Ghana @ 60 Chairman Never Paid Me – Chief Moomen

Playwright and poet, Chief Moomen has disclosed that he has still not been paid by the Ghana@60 committee for the production of his Wogbejeke play for Ghana’s 60th anniversary celebration.

Chief Moomen had complained in July last year that he has only been paid GHc100, 000 out of the GHc200, 000 he charged the committee.

But the Chairman of the Committee, Ken Amankwah said he had no formal agreement with the playwright.

The situation created a sour relationship between the playwright and the Chairman of the Committee with Chief Moomen lamenting that several efforts to retrieve the rest of his money had proved futile.

[SEE IMAGES ] CHRIS KONEY : Exploring South Africa – The Free State Province

In the third week of March 2018, I was part of a group of South African Tourism’s trade partners and selected media from Ghana and Nigeria for a one week tour across three of South Africa’s provinces, namely Free State, Kwazulu Natal and Gauteng. The fully sponsored trip was made possible with the collaboration of South Africa’s national carrier, South African Airways.

After our arrival at the O.R Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and formularizing with each other, the team, led by Mohammed Tanko Kwajaffa, South African Tourism’s West African Trade Relations Manager and the West African Regional Manager, Hloni Pitso, embarked on a three-hour road trip to the Free State.

Though that was going to be my second time in the Free State, I was particularly excited to once again experience the amazing atmosphere at Clarens, a small town located in the foothills of the Maluti Mountains nicknamed the “Jewel of the Eastern Free State”. Although most of the Free State is notoriously flat, the eastern portion of the province offers fun riding with its smooth roads.

After checking into the Protea Hotel in Clarens where we were to lodge for the next two days, I went on a walk with a couple of the team members. From the President Square, we visited several arts and craft shops – gift shop and gallery, pottery, leatherwork, cat rocks, candles, ethnic art and upholstery.

The New Me Is Very Challenging But REWARDING - Regina Van Helvert

Ghanaian  TV & Radio presenter within a short period of time has taken over the airwaves and screens.

She admits the new her is challenging but rewarding. Regina took over Rythmzlive on GHOne TV and Touch Down on Live FM, both multiple award-winning entertainment shows within the EIB Group.

She has stepped up to play with the leaders in the industry within her short time in both roles. This to her is a manifestation of what women can do when given the opportunity, and she is not about slowing down on achieving greater heights.

Regina, through ‘girlcode’ - a segment of Touch Down, is bringing the ‘sexy’ of ‘girlpower’ to her audiences across the various University campuses in the country, an initiative which can only drive high her brand value for this rather short stay in the industry.

It is only a matter of time before her full potential in empowering and positively influencing young women across the country is realised.

Ghanaian Songstress, Efya is no stranger to making hit songs, however what I think shocks the world, is her ability to teach and entertain at the same time.  Like old folk songs, almost every Efya classic, leaves a message on Unity, Love and with this new one, Gender.

The songstress, brings the discussion on a woman’s place in this world, to the table on this song. Bringing the issue closer to reality, with lyrics that explain and an instrumental that was tailored by Demsa, to provide nothing but unlimited groove.

THE EMERGENCE OF COMMERCIAL SOLAR ENERGY IN GHANA : THE STORY OF SUNPOWER INNOVATIONS LIMITED

Africa is considered and referred to as the "Sun continent.” According to the World Sunshine Map, Africa receives many more hours of bright sunshine and heat during the course of the year than any other continent of the Earth; many of the sunniest places on the planet lie here.

Despite Africa’s large solar potential, the number of people who have access to electricity is still very low.

In Ghana, about 29% of the population is still not connected to the national grid; with solar energy capacity making up a little over 0.03% which is mostly found in private homes, the country is still considered dark with relatively high electricity costs.

The current state of our energy sector requires revision and swift action to curb the energy crisis in the country. But to do this, it is prudent for stakeholders and industry players to employ new thinking juxtaposed with new technologies. The traditional approach of simply expanding national grids to connect the last mile is too expensive and will take too much time and will do little to solve the problem, which is projected to compound as the population grows.

Get A Hit Song Before You Earn My Attention – Ennwai To Kumi Guitar

Ghanaian Hiplife artiste  Ennwai has challenged Zylofon signee Kumi Guitar to work hard and get a hit song before he could earn his attention.

The attack comes after the Highlife musician attacked Ennwai’s former mate Paa Kwasi. Together they formed the group Dobble.

In a facebook post, the ‘Christy’ singer mocked Kumi Guitar and claimed he was signed by Zylofon only because he was a classmate of the company’s Chief Executive.

“Zylofon made noise about signing artistes and kept mute about your because they were even shy to announce yours. You think if he wasn’t your schoolmate like he go consider you an artist self? I hear say so far you have made only 6 cedis for zylofon after spending a lot on you.

They try polish you with money saa but still the qualities of an artist no dey show for your inside, you still like nkomode [Comedian] and now wanna ride on my name for fame. Sister, you’re a disgrace to Zylofon. Try to get 1 hit p3 and i will give you the attention you need. Puppy way your teeth no grow-finish sef you wan start chop beef you can’t chew”.
