According to Nortey, a graduate of Jayee University College, poetry in Ghana should equally be lucrative like other part of the world, he stressed on it that, “poets should also be made ambassadors for brands and organisations in order to boost the art and motivate talents” .

The artiste explained that poets also play some critical role in the development of the country, he said “Poetry are pieces that causes change, correct society, educate and also entertain. Am in a ministry so am inspired to write by the Holy Spirit. I am inspired by the good, bad, personal experiences and trends.”

Speaking about poetry in Ghana, Nortey commended all the Spoken word artiste and poets for the hard work and advocacy for the art, he encouraged his colleagues to work harder till they get ‘there’ he said “There are so many good poets, I think we should work harder and be more creative and also touch on sensitive issues to make our voices heard. We need to be known, we need to be heard, we need to blow though we are not bombs {laughs}”.

Jeffrey Nortey who started developing interest for the art after listening to a friend’s piece, said his first piece is his best piece and have done pieces like ‘Ebony more than a tribute’, ‘Bend the Knee highest’ which he dedicated to the rapper Sarkodie, ‘Dear wife’ and ‘Peace’.
