Actress and film producer, Yvonne Okoro has taken a swipe at organizer of the Ghana Movie Awards describing it as an event meant to reward family and friends.
The actor who was adjudged the favorite actress in the 2014 edition of the awards said the award scheme is a sham.
As a result she has vowed not to submit any of her works for nomination.
According to her, organisation of the event and the criteria for nomination and awarding is poor.
Speaking to Giovani Caleb on 360Live on Live 91.9 Fm , Okoro recounted being a co-winner of the Best Actress Award at the 2010 Ghana Movie Awards, “which award honours two people at the same time’ she said.
She added that, on countless occasions she made her reservation known to the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Movie Award, Fred Nuamah but to no avail. “There can never be any improvement of Ghana Movie awards” she told Giovani Caleb.
This year’s event will be happening on 30th December at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The award scheme will be recognizing excellence by honouring achievements of Actors, writers, Directors, Producers, Technicians and other personalities in the filmmaking industry of Africa.
