"SATURDAY NITE LIVE WITH FUNNY FACE"

Benson Ohene Boateng, popularly known as Funny Face, is set to venture into the world of television production, as he readies a new weekend show “Saturday Nite Live with Funny Face”.

Pilot scenes of the production are currently being shot. Close associates of the comedian tell Enewsgh.com, the show is going to be a fine piece of work.

Funnyface started gained mainstream appreciation as a comedian in 2006, when he won the maiden edition of  ”Toli Master” organized by Accra-based radio station Radio Gold . He got his big break four years later when he performed at the 1010 Night of Laughs and Music.

He is currently Ghana’s most sought-after comedian.

ACCRA NIGHTLIFE AWARDS ORGANIZERS SET TO ANNOUNCE NOMINEES

Taking a decision to award the deserving participators in the Accra nightlife industry, the Accra Nightlife Awards was launched earlier this year at the plush Hollywood Lounge of Citizen Kofi Entertainment Centre in Osu, Accra.

Yaw A. Debrah, CEO of Edge Media Group, assured the press present at the launch of how meticulous the selection process of nominees would be to award only the deserving industry players.

HITFM’S KWAME B BLAST OKFM’S ABIEKU SANTANA- “BOW YOUR HEAD IN SHAME”

 Hitz103.9fm’s broadcaster Kwame B who hosts the drive time on the station called Crooze control this afternoon during a segment on his on air program stated categorically that his fellow broadcaster Abieku Aggrey Santana of Ok101.7fm should bow his head in shame for declaring on air that marijuana smoking should be encouraged.

According to Kwame B, he really respects Abieku Santana but for what he heard him say on Blakk Rasta (a fellow presenter on Hitzfm) show today during the early hours made him loose all his respect for the ace broadcaster.

CAROLINE IS BACK WITH THE "HELP SOMEBODY" CAMPAIGN

Three years ago, Caroline Sampson introduced the “Help Somebody” Campaign, an initiative which sought to inspire and instill in Ghanaians the act of helping one another. 

Together with a team of young ladies, Caroline managed to put a smile on the faces of hundreds of disadvantaged people on the Osu Oxford street, the Obra spot, Circle, the psychiatric hospital and around 37, when they fed them on Christmas day.

However, the campaign which was lauded by several high placed personalities in society couldn’t continue in the subsequent years due to pregnancy and childbirth by Caroline.  In an interview with Caroline, she revealed the Help Somebody campaign returns this year with a list of activities scheduled to mark this year’s festive season.

YVONNE OKORO PREMIERES "CONTRACT" ON DECEMBER 28

Actress, Yvonne Okoro’s self-produced movie ‘Contract’, is set to be premiered at the National Theatre in Accra on December 28.  The movie, which features South African actor Homla Dandala and Nigeria’s Benjamin Joseph, as well as a crop of other Ghanaian actors, tells the story of a successful 40 year-old businessman/bachelor Peter Puplampo (Homla Dandala), who despite his mother’s persistent attempts to find him a woman, sticks to his rule of non-committal casual dates, freedom and being in control of his life, until the desire to have a child arises.

In his quest to find the woman who will take his money, have his child and disappear, Peter begins a roller-coaster, contracted relationship with Abena Boateng (Yvonne Okoro), a crude but clever local girl who is anything but impressed with Peter’s affluence. With a clear definitive contract from his lawyer outlining the dos and don’ts of bearing Peter Puplampo’s child, these two opposites must exercise every ounce of willpower not to kill each other until the child is born. The romantic comedy was directed by award-winning Ghanaian Director Shirley Frimpong-Manso.

OKYEAME KWAME'S VERSATILE SHOW TODAY!!!

As an observer of Ghanaian creativity, I have seen Ghanaian musicians explore new and artistic ideas. Among the constant development has been the unique blend of music and story which has birthed concepts like Pidjin Music’s ‘Culture Caravan’ and ‘Coz Ov Money’. On Friday, December 14, rapper Okyeame Kwame will challenge himself with a much more contemporary concept that would mix music with dance and theatre, perhaps his idea of a hip-hop opera or rather, hiplife cantata!

After months of publicity, the Okyeame Kwame Versatile Show finally plays at the National Theatre this Friday. The Show which seeks to combine Music, Dance and Theater, started with a great concept of a weekly reality series countdown which kept fans informed of every development along the way until the show finally hits the stage. This week marked the final rehearsal with the ex-megastar band. All artistes performing came over to have their sessions albeit in stages. There was Raquel, Samini, Kofi B, Vera of D3, Edem, Kesse, Bradez, to mention a few.

One thing certain about all the artistes on the bill was their zeal and preparedness to interact with their fans on stage again. They all made it clear that, it was fun working with the band but for a musician, the real joy is when you are up on stage and you can feel the energy with the crowd in their response. Ebo Whyte and his Roverman crew did not want to talk much but rather strive for to once again be judged by their performance after the show. LETHAL BIZZLE RETURNS TO "GHANA ROCKS CONCERT"

Award-wining Ghanaian-born UK act Lethal Bizzle will headline this year’s edition of the Ghana Rocks Concert, scheduled for the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre on December 27. Born Maxwell Ansah, Lethal Bizzle mixes a variety of urban music styles and has over the years earned a huge fan base in the UK.

This is the second time that Bizzle is headlining the annual concert; he first rocked the show in 2009. He will perform alongside FUSE ODG and Nigerian sensation Davido. After allegedly going on Twitter to urge beautiful actress, Yvonne Nelson to cut her losses and move on, sexy actress, Tonto Dikeh as reportedly gone onto her Blackberry Messenger status to profess her love to artiste, Iyanya.

CHEMPHE DENIES SHOOTING NEW VIDEO IN HOLLYWOOD

Ghana’s King of RnB after a successful launch of his Double P project recently which had him embark on non-commercial projects including human capital development in Tema Newtown and start of a KVIP project in the central, will release him “left over” video this week.

He made mention that though the project took a lot of his time during this year, he is impressed with the numerous supports from the media, resource personnel’s and participants.

Chemphe added that the “Left Over” video was supposed to have been released during the second quarter of 2012 but it delayed because of the social projects. He also denied allegations of not promoting Ghanaian culture for enhanced tourism revenue by shooting the video in Hollywood.

Chemphe in a separate interview added that the entire scenes in the video were covered in Ghana in the greater Accra region though only elite neighbourhoods were used. The issue was further confirmed by his Manager Korsah-Brown who formulated the concept of the video.

SARKODIE TO STAGE ANOTHER "RAPPERHOLIC" CONCERT

Peacefmonline.com is reliably informed that fastest rapper and BET Awards winner Sarkodie is preparing to stage yet another “Rapperholic Concert” this Christmas for his Ghanaians fans who have still not gotten enough of him on stage this year.

The event which will be the second edition is expected to come off on Christmas day December 25 2012 inside the Dome at the Accra International Conference Centre. Like last year, the event will also be the official lunch of Sarkodie’s third album.

The Tema based Rapper is expected to do a live –band rendition of all his hit tracks lead by Kwame Yeboah’s Ohia be ye ya band alongside his personal Disc Jockey DJ Mensah behind the ones and twos.

Bayla Trap R2Bees Sarkodie, R2Bees, Becca, to be honoured at Loud In GHNominees for the Loud in GH awards which is aimed at celebrating and recognizing deserving music artistes in Ghana and abroad has been released.  The awards will be held as part of the Loud in GH concert due on December 22 at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre.

The categories include ‘Come back Artistes of the Year, New Artiste of the Year, Female Act of the Year, Best Group, Male Act, and Best GH Act Abroad,’ all for the year 2012.

1015 LAUGHS & MUSIC HITS ACCRA & KUMASI THIS CHRISTMAS

MTN and Charterhouse once again prepare to brighten up the Christmas celebrations with the most popular comedy series; the Night of 1000 Laugh’s and Music.This time round, the organisers are going to stage the Night of 1015Laughs and Music first in Accra and then Kumasi. Hosting the hilarious event in Kumasi will spread the fun and laughter that the comedy series is associated with to as many people as possible during this yuletide seasons.

The date for the Accra event is the Boxing Day December 26, 2012 at the Dome and on the December 29, 2012 in Kumasi at the Georgia Hotel. This will be the first time that the Night of 1015 Laughs and Music is being held in the Ashanti Regional Capital-Kumasi.

If the track record of the comedy series, as recorded in Accra and recently in Takoradi, is anything to go by then one can expect nothing but top rate entertainment that will leave patrons panting for more.

The 1000 laughs series always guarantee patrons a good time as the stand-up comedians who are billed to perform are always top of the list comedians understand the comedy business. This time round the comedians expected to deliver the high rate of rib cracking comedy include  Ghana’s own Funny Face. LAWYERS WILL BE BETTER AS ARTISTE MANAGERS

Artiste management, an adopted western showbiz orientation has come to stay in Ghanaian showbiz. However, the failure of most artiste managers to pay attention to details as well as indiscipline attitude of artistes; makes it expedient for lawyers as better alternatives as far as artiste management is concerned.

As of now, the relationship between artiste-management has not been well defined. While some propose artiste management should be like an employer-employee affair, others postulate it should be a servant-servant affair. Other schools of thought also argue out that artiste management should be like a partnership business.
Whatever the theory is, our crawling industry has not well defined what artiste management is and the relationship it must create between the artiste and the posited managers. As to who must call the other’s service first to create a relationship is still left to the discretion of both parties.

From my observation, most artiste managers in Ghana are “big boys” who have been in showbiz for a long time, have network with most of the mass media, event organizers, corporate bodies and influential people and thus; simply take advantage of artistes as their managers. For over a decade since the intensity of artiste management in Ghana, issues of artiste and managers misunderstanding and break up occurs every year. Some of the reasons we’ve been made to know includes; absence of contractual agreement, less-detailed out contract provisions, conflicts of interest, insubordination, poor negotiation on the part of managers, amongst other concealed reasons.

YFM “GH ALL STAR WEEKEND” ON DECEMBER 21st TO 23rd

Yfm’s annual musical concert, Loud in GH, has taken an exciting twist this year. The event, which was previously held for one night, will now be over three days, starting from the 21st to the 23rd of December, 2012.

The repackaging of Loud in GH to “GH All Star Weekend” according to General Manager, Nana Kwame Osei Sarpong is to “give artistes and our fans a memorable event that goes beyond dishing out thrilling outstanding performances for a night”.

Award-winning dancehall act Samini will join Sarkodie and P Square on stage tonight at the Top of the World Concert at the Independence Square. He replaces Tema-based duo R2Bees, who pulled out of the event yesterday, citing disagreements with the organizers.

In a last minute effort by the organizers to ensure the event lives up to its billing, Samini has been quickly drafted in, bringing the list of performers to the original three, earlier advertised in mainstream media.

Samini returns to the stage exactly a week after he performed creditably at the JOY FM Night With The Stars Concert.
