The inquisitive, pink, mouse-like aliens are back in this modern take on the 1970s series – more than 40 years after the last episode was made.The Clangers are small, endearing creatures who live in peace and harmony inside a distant cratered planet. In series one, Major Clanger invents a knitting machine so that Granny doesn’t ever need to knit again. However, Granny rather likes knitting, and when she sees the hideous garments the machine is producing she challenges it to a knit-off. Also, some strange little egg-like creatures land on the planet and start to explore, a forest of crystal trees appear, and Iron Chicken gets caught up in junk metal – but Major comes to the rescue! Narrated by Michael Palin, the series is now aimed at a younger audience, but it retains its quirky, warm feeling and is more musical and colourful than ever before.
