VVIP Partners Government To Promote Clean Environment #VisionInProgress

Popular Hiplife group, VVIP have volunteered to assist government in sensitizing the youth on the importance of the National Sanitation Day programme.

The exercise was initiated by President John Mahama and spearheaded by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development following an outbreak of cholera which claimed over 200 lives out of about 10,000 reported cases in Ghana.

Ghanaians throughout the country came out in their numbers to participate in and observe the day marked for the first time on Saturday November 1.

Senior statesmen, including President Mahama, his Vice, Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur and other political leaders, as well as traditional leaders, including the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll, joined residents of cities, towns and villages to embark on the exercise.

Local Government Minister,Julius Debrah in an interview, Wednesday, revealed the ‘Selfie’ hitmakers have approached his ministry with a proposal to partner the government to sensitize the youth on the importance of the project.

The group intends to start their campaign from their base in Nima and its surrounding communities - Pigfarm, Mamobi, and Newtown and then move to other communities.

VVIP is made up of two Ghanaian music power brands. Hiplife grandpapa Reggie Rockstone, and the remaining members of dismembered group, VIP.

The new brand, VVIP, has gained a huge amount of influence since they came into being.

Also Reggie Rockstone told a media source in an interview that he is excited about the initiative because one of the things he admired about the group which was previously known as 'VIP', was that “they have always been community activists.”

He explained that, “we shall bring more attention to the issue and also entice the people via [other] celebrities to get down [with it]. We will organize shows and host them to bring awareness to this issue and have a general jolly good time whilst cleaning like we do in our homes.”

“Spring cleaning they call it, except this one is heavy ‘borla’ cleaning,” Reggie Rockstone added.

He revealed that they are still putting finishing touches to the initiative and will start as soon as all is set.
