The Citi FM Foundation has donated cash, tools, books, clothing and food items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis to four orphanages during this year’s Easter Orphan Project.The beneficiary orphanages are Basco School Complex and Orphanage – Trotor, near Suhum, Jehovah Raffa – Suhum, Mama Lardi Orphanage – Bolga and Handivangelism Children’s Home – Haastso, Accra.
The Baptist School Complex (Basco) in Suhum was the biggest beneficiary among the four orphanages.
The donation was a fulfillment Citi FM and its listeners made to the orphanage to equip a vocational training center built for them last year.
Presenting the items of behalf of the Citi FM Foundation, Jessica Opare-Saforo – Programmes Manager of Citi FM said: “We are glad we have been able to do this. We are happy that together with our listeners and donors, we’ve been able to complete what we all started together. It is now up to you (Basco) to ensure you change lives with this completed Vocational Training Center and the tools therein.”

Scores of people accompanied staff of Citi FM to spend the day with the orphans. Among other things, they had fun and mentoring sessions with the children.
On behalf of the orphanage, Rev Ofori Amoah thanked Citi FM, listeners and donors for aiding their work.
“It’s always refreshing to receive the Citi FM Foundation and the many people who come along to share with us. What you do every year means a lot to us and on behalf of the children and the community, I want to thank you all for the kind and progressive gesture. May the good Lord bless you all. We promise to make good use of the things you’ve given us and we hope to add value to the lives of these children so that they can in turn serve humanity better.”
In its 9th year, the Citi Easter Orphan Project is aimed at promoting amongst other things the spirit of hospitality and philanthropy in our society.
In all, Basco received GHC 10,000 cash, Jehovah Raffa also received GHC 5,000 while Mama Lardi and Handivangelism Children’s Home received GHC 5,000 and GHC 6,000 respectively.
The Skills and Training Center at Basco will in the coming weeks be fully equipped to equip the students with skills in fields such as masonry, hairdressing, carpentry, and plumbing among others.
