Slam dunk champion John Wall is helping to make a very special (and very specific) wish come true for 5-year-old cancer patient Miyah: meeting Nicki Minaj and wearing one of her pink wigs.
The Washington Wizards guard sat court-side with the young fan Friday (March 7) to post a video message to Minaj in hopes that she'd see it. "What's up, fans?" he said. "I want you to help my buddy Miyah out with one of her special wishes."
"I want to meet Nicki Minaj and I want one of her pink wigs," Miyah chimes in.
Miyah is battling Stage 3B Burkitt's lymphoma, reports MTV. She was diagnosed late last year and has already gone through seven chemo treatments.
"What's up, Ncki?" Wall then asked. The NBA player used the message as a jumping off point for his hashtag campaign, #HelpMiyahMeetNicki and #PinkWigforMiyah, and posted it to his Instagram page. Almost immediately (the same day), the message got so many likes, comments and retweets that Minaj did see it, and even responded.
"Hi Miyah!!!! Let's see what we can come up with for a pretty little princess. ;)" she tweeted.
Wall then used the power of social media to show his gratitude to the YMCMB rapper and his fans. "S/o to @nickiminaj for helping make Miyah's wish come true and thanks to all who RT'd #HelpMiyahMeetNicki" he tweeted.
