Ama k tweets to one direction Ghanaian actress, Ama K Abebrese tells One Direction to represent Ghana fairly Award winning Ghanaian actress, TV host and producer, Ama K Abebrese who was recently voted the 100th most influential person in Ghana by eTV Ghana has hit back at international boy band, One Direction for painting a picture of abject poverty in Ghana after their short stay in Ghana for charity work.

One Direction member, Niall Horan revealed on twitter on Tuesday that they visited the city of Accra in Ghana and will never forget the heartbreaking poverty he saw there. He wrote in a series of posts:”Just arrived back from Accra, Ghana! Best life experience ever! This Red Nose Day please get involved!… I’ve seen the slums right in front of me! This is no joke! They really need your help! Poverty is real!… Massive thanks to Red Nose Day for taking us to Ghana! It was incredible! Real eye-opener! We take so much for granted over here!…”
This Ama K believes is not a fair picture of what Ghana or Accra is. “ its disappointing when these people come to ghana, stay in 5 star hotels, go to the slums; and that’s all they tweet to the world”, she contends. This, she took to twitter in the evening to ‘tweet some sense’ into the young boys. She wrote:

@NiallOfficial n @onedirection Your tweets about the slums and poverty of Accra, Ghana was very touching…….however..

@NiallOfficial n @onedirection … Next time, also tweet about the luxury hotel and VIP treatment and beauty of the country you enjoyed.

@NiallOfficial n @onedirection … I understand its for charity, but this highly negative image of sub Saharan African countries like Ghana

@NiallOfficial n @onedirection ….. that you choose to focus on without balance for the so many positive aspects to your millions of ff

@NiallOfficial n @onedirection … serve mostly to reinforce negative stereotypes. I have donated to @rednoseday and it does good work.

@NiallOfficial n @onedirection …. I live in the beautiful city of Accra, Ghana, and there is so much more to it than slums and poverty.

@NiallOfficial n @onedirection …. so next time, please be #Balanced#ComeBetter There is more to Ghana, so much more.
