George Bosompim: NFA Executive Secretary Or Board Chairman? – Kojo Preko Dankwa

In as much as I want President Nana Akufo to appoint Mr Socrates Sarfo as the National Film Authority Executive Secretary, l also see another force to reckon with when it comes to the Executive Secretary appointment/position.

Mr Goeorge Bosompim, a member of the Oscar Committee in Ghana is a very active and action man who partakes in activities when it comes to movies/film industry in this country.

The HND in Film Directing and a lecturer at the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI) seems to also pop up as a real force to reckon with. With this it makes Socrates Sarfo’s ticket to become Executive secretary an exciting one.

The confident man might catch the attention of the President and the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture but all depends on the President and his team to make a definite decision.

The university of Bournemouth man who has MA in Television and Film – (2005 – 2006) is a man to watch out for and also seen as one of the personalities who have really helped the movie industry.

He has been part and parcel of the Ghana Academy of Film and Television Arts, Directors Guild of Ghana since 2001. One major crucial factor in his line of duty is the fact that he has been with the Film Task Team working on the LI to see the full running/functioning of the Development and Classification of Film Act (935) passed in 2016. Let us see how it pands out as we leave all for the President to appoint the best man for the position.

Socrate Safo: The Man To Head National Film Authority – Kojo Preko Dankwa

Eventhough President Nana Akufo Addo has delayed in appointing both the Executive Secretary and Board Chairman for the National Film Authority (NFA), it is my believe and trust that the best person will be appointed to lead the Film Authority to achieve the purpose we all need.

It is difficult to understand why till date, the Development and Classification of Film Act (935) has not been formally implemented (2016). The film makers themselves are sitting aloof and expecting results which if care is not taken will take forever.

Notwithstanding, I want to tell Mr President and the team that the man to lead the NFA (National Film Authority) is Socrate Safo. I call him Ghana’s most influential movie stakeholder. The man Socrate Safo eats, drinks, walks and sleep film/movies.

He has been part of this great journey to see the success of film/movies in this country.

A native of Kwahu Abetifi in the Eastern Region, born in Accra, he has over 30 years experience in film making. The Ayalolo 1 boys middle school man since 80s have been in the movie/film sector which makes him the WONDER BOY with the MAGIC TWIST to lead the NFA.

LARRY BOZZLZ WRITES: An Open Letter To The Ghana Entertainment Industry

Dear Ghana entertainment industry,

I want to seize this opportunity to hail you for your contributions in the country and across the globe. Indeed, your role of captivating, inspiring and amusing audience of every stripe ubiquitously cannot be underestimated. Nonetheless, there are some pressing issues I have identified that I think must be addressed.

In the first place, I think you have failed woefully in promoting your very own to the world. Particularly in the modelling industry, my keen observation is that, you are very quick to promote foreign models leaving behind the great talents of your own. This is evident in all your mega shows featuring both our very own models and their counterparts from other countries.

We see you promoting extensively the foreign models whilst feeding the audience with little or, in some instances, no contents on the great talents we have in the country. This action of yours actually keep me questioning; “what drug have you taken to make you this drowsy?” Until you find an answer to my question, I put it to you that your failure to promote your very own is one of the major setbacks facing the industry and must be addressed if you really want to put Ghana on the globe to compete.

Now, the brand has taken those paper planes and used them as compost for a new ‘Forest of the Future’ initiative which has been unveiled at the Mother of Peace orphanage situated in Northriding, Johannesburg.

Planted over 2000sqm of land, this food forest will become a consistent, sustainable source of food for both the orphanage and communities in and around the Northriding rural region. As it stands, the forest will contain 270 trees, 2,818 herb shrubs and 13,550 plants.

The paper planes that were used in the record-breaking event last month were made of recycled paper. This recycled paper was subsequently turned into mulch and used as a form of compost for the garden, carrying the hopes, wishes and dreams of all those who wrote on them.

When You Think We Don’t Care

People are passionate about customer service in Ghana. Overall, the feeling is that companies do not care. The focus is just on profits and nothing else.  Take a cursory glance on social media today – Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp – and you’ll probably understand what I mean.

‘Vodafone has stolen my credit,” screamed an angry customer the other day on Twitter.

“Things are too complicated,” - said another customer to our Experience Centre agents.

In the telecommunications sector, since what we do is at the very heart of everyday life, the major brunt is borne by us. To give feedback, no matter how painful it is to hear, is to care. Customers want the best of services at all times because it is a promise we make to them when they sign up with us. Our brand promise is a proposition to stand beside the customer at all times as they make the leap into the unknown digital future.

Customer service is the first step in becoming a loved brand. It is also the reason why Vodafone is stepping up this month by celebrating the “CARE Month” to demonstrate that we are the definitive company with the customer at the heart of all we say and do.

“We want to send a bold message to our customers that you are the reason we do what we do. We will always ensure that you receive unmatched experience at all times,” said Angela, Director of Commercial & Digital Transformation, at Vodafone.

Today's Youth Care Less About Their Dignity – Ghana Most Beautiful’s Chaana Fumes

Ghanaian model, health practitioner, actress and entrepreneur, Salma Chaana, Abul-Razak, who was the first Upper West delegate to make it to the 2010 Ghana Most Beautiful pageant on Tv3, has revealed that in her line of work her only challenge is her blessing of being beautiful.

According to Chaana, every woman is capable of climbing to higher heights and be more successful, provided she is given the requisite socialization tools both from home and the society where she finds herself.

In an interview, she said that, being pretty is a blessing and has opened loads of greater opportunities for most women but, “This same blessing has become my challenge.

Many people, especially men sometimes want to help you because you are pretty and even want to have a taste of you in exchange for favours. I am usually able to overcome all these with the help of the home-sense instilled in me by my Grandmother who raised me”

Chaana also criticised that some youth these days lack home-sense due to weak parental style adopted by the current generation of parents. This she said, “Growing up, I never saw young people talking back at their elders or evening arguing with their parents but lately this has become the new normal. Some youth these days care less about dignity; they aim at fame and riches and will do anything possible to get it without considering he source”
