Yemi Alade Shows Off Her 2017 Grammy’s Invitation

Nigerian afropop singer, Yemi Eberechi Alade, simply known as Yemi Alade, who has had a very successful 2016, took to her Twitter page to show off her 2017 Grammy’s Invitation letter.

She will be attending as a vip guest at the 59th edition of the prestigious award show which will be holding on the 12th of February at the Los Angeles Staples Centre in the United States.

Obour Preaches Reflection & Positivity In End Of Year Message

The President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice Osei Kuffour aka Obour has urged stakeholders in the creative art industry to work together in unity in the coming years.

He emphasized the need for musicians to remain focused on the goal of national development.

Obour also encouraged Ghanaians to use the Christmas and New year season to reflect on many good things and to resolve and reflect that the coming years will be positive.

Ghanaian dancehall singer Charles Nii Armah Mensah known in showbiz as Shatta Wale was crowned Most Influential Artiste of the Year at last night’s edition of the MTN 4Syte Music Video Awards which came off at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The Kakai singer also walked home with the award for Best Reggae/Dancehall Video. 

The glamorous event witnessed captivating performances from Shatta, Samini, Guru, Kwaw Kesse, AMG‘s Medikal among others, and saw Stonebwoy, M.anifest, D – Black, Eazzy, and South Africa’s AKA all pick up laurels.

Cabum Drops “Me” Music Video

OM Studio’s rap artiste, Cabum, is not ending the year 2016 without giving his cherished ‘Chedeshie Empire’ fan army a gift to celebrate the Christmas and New Year festivities with.

He hopped on his own Hip-hop beat and delivered a spurring slow-tempo masterpiece titled “Me”.

In “Me”, Cabum expresses his sentiments over the competition in the industry and insists that he is doing ‘him’. He emphasises why he is not winning accolades even though he has been in the show business for a long time.

In the end of the song, he gave his loyal fans and crew members special shout outs.

I Started Wearing Benash Jeans Since 2001 – Cartel Big J

Cartel Big J a member of the award winning music duo Praye has stated that he started wearing Benash Jeans designs since 2001.

According to the musician his relationship with Benash Jeans has lasted for more than a decade, during their (Praye) youthful days in the music industry Cartel Big J recalled that the designer was the one who clothed them in the Nescafe African Revelations competition the show that propelled them to the limelight.

Cartel Big J added that Benash Jeans is the only clothing line which has championed the use of Denims (Jeans) in Ghana, he disclosed that having a Benash Jeans apparel is something that one cannot keep to himself alone but would want everyone to see.

He made this statement in a documentary on how their 2015 Tigo Unpplugged costume was made by the designer. That event was also instrumental in the comeback of the group after their painful split in 2014.

Shatta Wale, Diamond Platnumz, Mr Eazi, Beyonce Win Big At 2016 WatsUp TV Africa Music Video Award Winners + FULL LIST

WatsUp TV, organisers of the WatsUp TV Africa Music Video Awards (2016 WAMVA) have announced winners of its maiden edition of the pan-African entertainment awards meant to boost and encourage the production of quality music videos across Africa and beyond.

In a short winners announcement press conference in Accra, 22 winners emerged out of the over 170 music acts and video directors who were nominated when the awards was launched in September 2016.

Voted as the African Video of the Year was, Kidogo, a video by Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania ft P'Square and directed by Godfather.

Diamond also emerged the overall top winner with 3 including, Best African Combo Video and Best African Male Video.

Godfather also got voted the Video Director of the Year with the Kidogo video.

Overall winners in each category were determined by popular votes from fans of WINNER from across the world.

DJ Vyrusky Shows Class At 2016 Ghana Rocks Concert

Last night’s edition of Charter House’s annual Ghana Rocks Concert will not easily be forgotten by patrons who thronged to the Accra International Conference Centre Tuesday night.

They were thrilled to energy- filled performances from an a-list of Ghanaian acts including Stonebwoy (who was headline act for the night),  Ras Kuuku, Medikal, Solo hitmaker Article Wan, Rudebwoy Ranking, Kofi Kinaata, MzVee, Luther, Jazzy, Jupitar, Cabum, Kaakie, and Trigmatic.

Handling the decks for the night was revered turntablist DJ Vyrusky of Accra-based Starr 103.5FM, who received rave reviews for his output during the night. 

The party expert he is, he converted the auditorium into a large nightclub with an exciting playlist consisting top Ghanaian and Nigerian anthems, and keeping the party temperature of the building at a constant high.

DJ Vyrusky (born Kofi Amoako) has been official DJ for Shatta Wale for close to a year, and since getting into t industry, has excelled on career defining stages as Ghana Meets Naija Concert, the Hennessey Artistry Concert, Tidal Rave, and at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. 


A Masters Degree holder, he has also been adjudged among other things, Best Events DJ and Best Club DJ of the Year at the prestigious Ghana DJ Awards. He’s also head of Nitro Live, a subsidiary of Echo House Ghana Limited.

Photos: Fans Upset At Mzbel’s Attacker While Performing In Belgium

Ghanaian singer Nana Ekua Amoah Belinda aka Mzbel has had a lot to deal with after the 2016 general election due to a comment she made about president-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The singer’s ‘All White Party’ concert in Gent, Belgium organized by Afro Belge was hit with many controversies before the event but it finally happened on Boxing Day.

During the concert, a lady hit the singer with an egg, which interrupted the concert for minutes but the show continued after the attacker was axed away from the event ground.

Organizers and attendees of the "All White Party" held in Gent – Belgium, which featured Pat Thomas and Mzbel, condemned the attack on the “16 Years” singer while on stage December 26 night.

 The incident happened when a middle-aged woman approached the stage and threw an egg at Mzbel, hoping that a lot more people will join in and interrupt her performance.

Shatta Movement & TiGo Present "Shatta Honors "

Shatta movement in partnership with telecommunications giant, Tigo, presents Luminous, a night of music and fireworks. Scheduled to take place on 31st December 2016 at the Junction Mall at Nungua, the night will also host the maiden edition of the Shatta Honors.

The Shatta Honors is a scheme instituted by the King of African Dancehall, Shatta Wale, to reward the hard working Shatta Movement fans on a yearly basis.

The event will be preceded by fireworks then a performance by shatta Wale before acknowledgment of deserving fans. The ultimate for this year is a Toyota Camry Sedan.

Wiyaala’s Festival Dream Realised In The Upper West Region

It began so well. The people of Wa came in numbers expecting a night of quality music headlined by Ghana’s queen of AfroPop and supported by local artists. Wiyaala’s mission is to establish an annual music festival to shine the light on talent from the Upper West Region.

The same region from which she struggled for many years to make a career as a musician and to which she was now offering to give back some of her fame to help her peers.

Patrons arriving at the venue would have appreciated the renovations her team had made to the Wa Community Centre, which had been freshly painted, decorated by artists and equipped with a locally manufactured stage displaying an array of musical instruments awaiting the Djimba World Band’s arrival on stage.

It soon became apparent that demand for VIP tickets was high and the VIP areas were extended as more chairs were brought for the comfort of the fans. At 10pm, The Djimba World Band climbed the stage and played popular African and Western songs as the crowd settled in for an enjoyable evening of quality music and sound.

Entertainers Set To Protest Against Rivers State Commissioner For Culture & Tourism

Coalition of Nigeria Entertainers set to protest against the commissioner for culture & tourism, Mrs Tonye Briggs-Onyide if there is no withdrawal of the recent announced statement by the Rivers state ministry of culture & tourism.

The President of CONE, Mr Kanule Nwiya made the statement this morning during a press conference in Port-Harcourt.

If there is no Withdrawal of the announcement between now and three days, there shall be a protest against the removal of the commissioner for culture & tourism, Mrs Tonye Briggs-Onyide, the permanent secretary and the Director of Culture for the ministry.

Coalition of Nigeria Entertainers will also pass vote of no confidence on the commissioner for culture & tourism.

Some days back, the commissioner made an announcement saying that all entertainment and hospitality event organizers must approach the ministry & the ministry must approve the event for it to hold.

The Honourable Commissioner of Culture & Tourism, Mrs Tonye Briggs-Onyide has been suspended some months back by the Governor of Rivers State, Gov Nyesom Wike.

Photos : Sandra Ankobiah Donates To SOS Children's Home

Ghanaian Lawyer, TV Personality and Philanthropist, Sandra Ankobiah has donated various items to the SOS Children's Village in Tema.

The items range from beverages, to confectionaries, to toiletries.

Sandra who was accompanied to the facility by her mother, said the spirit of giving during Christmas encouraged her to make the donation. 

The fashion icon made a similar donation to the facility in December of 2013.

Ahead of Ghana's general on December 7, the ex-host of Fashion 101 also embarked on a nationwide civic education campaign dubbed ‘First Time Voters Project’ to educate young people who were voting for the first time as part of efforts to impact to society.

FCT Residents Thrilled By ‘Big Brother Nigeria’ Comeback

Some residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday said they were elated that the Nigerian edition of the reality TV show, Big Brother would begin in 2017.

The first edition of ‘Big Brother Nigeria’ held in 2006, producing stars like Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and Tinsel actor, Gideon Okeke, but was won by Katung Aduwak who took home 100,000 dollars.

After 10 years, organisers of the show, Multichoice had announced on social media platforms in November that the second edition of the show would commence on Jan. 22, 2017 in Lagos.

Amaka Okoro, a staff of Multichoice Nigeria, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that Multichoice was prepared to entertain Nigerians with the biggest reality show. “We have made arrangements for the show and we want Nigerians to be entertained. “The show is now known as ‘Big Brother Naija’ and will be broadcasted on Dstv and Gotv, but it will be aired on specific channels and viewers will have to subscribe for it. 

“The show remains live, relies on viewers votes and will run for 78 days. “The show was very successful in 2006 and we hope for the same this year, but the ‘Shower hour’ segment won’t be shown this time. “There will be a total of 12 housemates during the season and the emerging winner takes home a new KIA Sorento car and N25 million,” she said.

Nana Ama McBrown Beats Jackie Appiah & Joselyn Dumas To Win Eurostar Best Dressed Female Celebrity At 2016 Ghana Movie Awards

Screen goddess Nana Ama McBrown has been voted Eurostar Best Dressed Female Celebrity on red carpet at the 2016 Ghana Movie Awards.

The actress beat her colleagues Joselyn Dumas and Jackie Appiah who placed second and third respectively to win the topmost award. 

Mrs. Mensah takes home €3000 shopping voucher as winner with Joselyn Dumas and Jackie Appiah receiving €2000 shopping voucher and €1500 shopping voucher respectively.

Panel of the Eurostar Best Dressed Awards selected ten female celebrities who looked elegant at the event. They later cut the number to five and to the final three. The Kumawood star was announced winner on Monday, December 19 after the panel voted her as the best dressed female celebrity on red carpet at the 2016 Ghana Movie Awards.

The celebrations commences on Friday 23rd December with the Welcome Party at Club Onyx followed by the Xmas Eve party at the newly opened Ox Ultra Lounge in Osu (Woodin building) on Saturday 24th December then a beach party on Sunday 25th December at Sandbox.

Two of Ghana’s great highlife musicians, Ofori Amponsah and Kwabena Kwabena have finally entered the booth to record a song. 

The two on Monday, December 19 were in the studios of Kaywa to work on the masterpiece expected to be released before 2016 ends.

The song titled “17”, according to Ofori Amponsah talks about how some ladies lure gentlemen to behave like 17 year old boy. Mr. All 4 Real talking about his collaboration with the “Asor” singer said, “it is wonderful to work with great artiste like Kwabena Kwabena. This should have happened years ago but I think this is the right time for us to work together that is why we are here. Today is a special day for me because I fell like I’m in Washington DC giving a speech”.

Ghanaian Songstress Rebecca Acheampong, popular known as Becca with support from Zylofon Media on Saturday hosted kids from the Osu Children’s home at the Fun House of Max Mart for a Christmas party.

The charity event which lasted for close to 5 hours at the 37 branch of Max Mart saw several kids from the home show up and gave them the opportunity to play around, dine with Becca and the Zylofon Media team as well as dance to some hit Ghanaian songs.

Speaking on her reasons for putting together such an event, the ‘Hw3’ hit maker said ” Most of the time people visit the Children’s home and make donations in all forms but are never there to know what really happens afterwards.Some of the donations in the form of clothes, cash,etc on most occasions are not given to the kids.

So this time with the support of Zylofon Media, we have gone to bring them from the home, so they can get to play with all these toys and games here. After, we serve them with the variety of food, have some fun, make some donations and finally say good bye to them with some Christmas presents.”

Miss Ghana Makes Top 20 At 2016 Miss World

Antoinette Delali Kemavor, Miss Ghana 2015 earned a spot in the top 20 contestants at the 2016 Miss World Finals.

One hundred and eighteen ladies competed for the coveted crown  during the 66th edition of the beauty pageant which took place at MGM National Harbor, Maryland in the United States of America.

The ultimate was won by 19 year old Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico, who called it “honor and a great responsibility” to represent her Caribbean homeland.

The runners up were Yaritza Miguelina Reyes Ramirez of the Dominican Republic and Miss World Indonesia Natasha Mannuela.

GOtv Ghana Decoders Certified Ready For Digital Migration

As Ghana makes strides towards the eventual analogue switch off (ASO) of all analogue television transmissions as part of the digital migration journey, all decoder to be sold and/or used in Ghana need to pass a rigorous compliance test by the National Communications Authority (NCA). GOtv Ghana duly submitted its decoders to be thoroughly assess by the NCA for its compatibility for use to receive digital signals in Ghana.

“We are proud to announce that on the 1st of December the NCA issued us with a Type Approval Certificate for our GOtv Decoders. This means all GOtv decoders are ready for use after digital migration” says Cecil Sunkwa-Mills, Managing Director of GOtv Ghana Limited. He explains that all persons who have purchased GOtv decoders already will not need a new decoder when Ghana migrates onto the digital broadcast platform in September 2017.

With this certification all GOtv decoder will now bear the Digital Ghana logo, a sign to confirm the decoder has gone through the certification and approval process of the NCA for use in Ghana.

The GOtv Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) Service in Ghana was launched on the 18th January 2013 as the first approved Version 2 DTT service in Ghana in seven regions and its subscriber management service is supported by Multichoice Ghana Limited.

Bisa Kdei Kicks Off Europe Tour With Amsterdam Concert

This year has been a roller coaster of performances, videos drops and studio sessions for Ghana's VGMA highlife Artiste of the Year Award winner Bisa K Dei.
