Update From The Miss Malaika Ghana 2015 Auditions,The Winners, Judges & The Girls Who Made It Through

And so the journey of a new queen began on July 25th,2015 at the GHONE studios as scores of young ,beautiful girls came from far and near to audition for the year’s biggest event;  MISS MALAIKA GHANA 2015.  As Promised, our team was there from beginning to end to bring you the latest updates.

How did it go?…….

As early as 7:00 am girls were already seated at the GH ONE TV studios waiting patiently to go through the first round of the selection process. Some looked poised, others skeptical and others just calm and ready for anything. A few friends and loved ones were there to support their girls as well.

This year, girls from all over the country; Kumasi, Oda,Takoradi, Volta Region and Accra came to try out for the pageant.  Many of them who are students from tertiary institutions across the country whiles others were in the working class or graduates from Senior High School brought their A-game on at the event.

It was no easy task for the Miss Malaika Ghana team at GH ONE who had to make the girls feel very comfortable, and get the place ready for the auditions whiles also prepping the Judges up and seeing that normal schedules at the studio run according to plan.

As the girls waited to be screened, they were giving the opportunity to have their skin type tested and advised on how best to treat it by VASELINE  for free!!

The first screening process which began at 9:00 am divided the 400+ present girls  into groups of fives to be screened for the next round. This was where all the dos and don’ts strictly applied. This went on till about 12; 30midday. It was surprising to see some girls come all the way to the studio only to drop out of the last minute. The question is; was it because of seeing other girls?  Speaking to a few girls all had the same thing to say “I AM THE NEXT MISS MALAIKA”. We left that for the judges to decide.

The judges on board this year were our very precise and handsome William Asiedu@Willasiedu who is the only judge returning this year; Chief Malaika scout, Mirror Columnist and deputy editor at Daily Graphic. Not new to beauty pagents herself,Judge B the beautiful Hamamat Montia ; Miss Malaika 2006, top model, writer and motivational speaker @iamhamamatmontia and the very eloquent and beautiful Karen Kane, @karenkashkane;CEO of Kashboutique, personal and celebrity stylist for top acts like Beccaand  Berla Mundi.

The “meet the judges”auditions started at 2; 30 ending as late as 7pm after a 20 minute break for the judges at 5pm. Present at the event to give full support was reigning Queen, Miss Malaika 2014 Eirene Binabiba @eirene_biabiba and other delegates from last year including Kathy Annan @Kathy_annan, Joyce Ayeh, and @theayegilrs3 and @ _thess. In our opinion, they looked enviable and made the girls hungry for success the more. They encouraged the girls to keep smiling and be as honest as possible.

While trusting Judge William to be keen on diction, fluency and spot on intelligence, the new judges also brought their A-game with Judge B Hamamat Montia very friendly but highly observant, interested more in the appearance, mood and posture of the girls. Judge Karen was also strong on knowing the girls personality asking about their plans and ambitions in life. The girls had a lot to prove and for a good reason. Some girls disappointed, others surprised and others lived up to expectation. It wasn’t easy for the judges or the girls in any way.

Congratulations to all girls that made it. All is not over though, the search still continues for Miss Malaika Ghana 2015. Our little advise to the girls;“Remember to be honest, smile and present your genuine self ,beauty can only take you half way”. To the girls that didn’t make it,we say better luck next time and to our avid readers, a promise is a promise. Let us know if your girl made it by tagging her or leaving a comment. Keep it glued right here because, wherever the Malaika train goes, We will follow. You call it stalking; we call it doing our job!
