PATRONS PRAISE OKYEAME KWAME (@OkyeameKwameBra) ONCE AGAIN

Two years ago, Okyeame Kwame conceived an idea of staging a show which will combine music, drama, and dance, with anticipation that it will be a never – seen – before annual event.

For ways to grow this idea he would begin  two months intensive rehearsals with a team of dancers, musicians and actors which would eventually lead to the delivery of a successful event which would be  dubbed as the most innovative show by all and sundry.

The first show happened in 2012, and indeed it was received by Ghanaians with opened arms.
Two years afterwards, Patrons and the media have once again praised Okyeame Kwame for what they described as a heart-warming show.

‘’The run-up to the show saw team work and immense energy on display as the various artistes rehearsed for the big show, in the end patrons had something to hold on to till Rap Doctor, Okyeame Kwame and his ‘cabal’ choose to unleash their creative venom once more in dishing out well-choreographed dance, poetry, and comedic performances next year’’.- Ghanaweb

‘’Take this from me, whoever you are, if you were not at the National theatre of Ghana for the second edition of the critically acclaimed ‘The versatile show’ by Okyeame Kwame, then you really have yourself to blame.

I kid you not that, this was a show no lover of arts, entertainment and theatre should not have missed. Mind blowing is not a word you will often associate with most events production, but i won’t blink an eye once in saying  that what was exactly what Okyeame and his team sold last Saturday’’. Francis Doku – Showbiz.

Managing Director of the ‘Insight’ newspaper, Kwesi Pratt also applauded Okyeame Kwame for putting up such great art.

‘’The humor, the quality of music, dance and the deepness of the message was hilarious. It was organized to portray the Ghanaian World from a beggar’s perspective. I am so impressed with Okyeame’s level of art and creativity. I think it’s something Ghanaians should encourage because I believe it’s an alluring form of tourism the country can ever have’’ he said.

Mr. Pratt further likened the show to the Tropicana Club show which happens every night at Havana, Cuba. Just like any human endeavour there were few glitches in the show.

Firstly, many commented that the keche duo involvement didn’t sit well in the show. Secondly, others said sexuality and okyeame Kwame’s brand do not blend.  Thirdly, there were comments that Wanlov the kobolor’s performance was not felt and it looked as if he was on stage just to prolong proceedings.

On Keche, Okyeame Kwame responded that he agrees the club scene wasn’t performed well. This is because that part wasn’t rehearsed thoroughly. Keche’s dedication and commitment was massive so if the club scene had been plotted and blocked properly, their performance would have been great.

With the sexuality issue, Okyeame said there is no doubt that there were sexual elements in the show. However it was clearly communicated in the various media outlets that the first show was meant for family and the second show was to be romantic. Audience were warned to bring their family to the afternoon show and reserve the evening for evening ‘things’.

For those who did not understand the performance of Wanlov the Kubolor; – Okyeame added that Wanlov brought on stage his alluring skills in terms of spoken word and his performance was an abstract representation of a person who is misunderstood. So it was good that he was misunderstood. We have known him over the years as a very controversial musician, but little did we know that he is poet.

However, ‘’the versatile show’’ has received a lot of positive annotations from patrons and the media. Hence it is a show which has come to stay. Okyeame dedicates the beauty of the show to the entire production team and wishes to say thank you to the directors, producers, dancers, actors, and all those who contributed to make sure that the pressure and drama behind the scenes weren’t experienced on set.
