BBC’s Africa Business Report Interviews President Mahama

Ghanaian President John Dramani  Mahama has given an exclusive interview to Africa Business Report’s Lerato Mbele.During the interview President Mahama discusses the state of the Ghanaian economy, the country’s approach to allegations of corruption and plans to launch a Euro bond. 

Mr Mahama admits that measures he has introduced may be seen as tough and unpopular with the public, but he does not fear for his political future in light of this.

The full interview broadcasts on Africa Business Report on BBC World News on Friday 1st August at 16.40 and 18.40 GMT. The interview was recorded on 30th July 2014.

The interview with Mr Mahama forms part of a focus on Ghana on BBC World News on Friday 1st August, with coverage throughout the day and special reports on Africa Business Report and Focus on Africa. Presenter Lerato Mbele is in in Accra looking at the challenges currently facing the country’s economy and asking what life is like for ordinary Ghanaians as the cost of living rises.

Research released earlier this week by Ipsos found that more affluent Ghanaians are consuming BBC content every month than any other international news brand.

The study shows that the BBC’s integrated cross-platform news offering, which includes BBC World News and BBC.com, are used by almost three quarters (74%) of affluent Ghanaians each month.
