Ghana's entertainment powerhouse, Adom FM and the Anlo traditional council had promised to deliver a thrilling carnival before the climax of the Hogbetsoso Festival; and they certainly did on Friday night.
With less than two weeks of hype that had preceded the show, a large crowd, most of them from Anloga, Keta, Salo and other neighboring towns thronged the Keta High Street for the Street carnival that marked the first of the series of shows by Adom Fm to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Hogbetsotso Festival.
Patrons danced to good hiplife and hiphop tunes from D.J of the night, Ben Duker, who demonstrated his style with more mixes to sustain the crowd for the main show.
MCs of the night, Jerry Justice and Kusi Mensah Capito started with a highly patronized Azonto Dance and Rap Competition among the young men and ladies present. Though most of the ladies with ‘big backs’ felt shy to be on stage, the crowd enjoyed the various contestants that took part in the Azonto dance competition for ladies. Winners were later presented with products from some of the sponsors of the show.
On the bill, was new hiplife/hiphop musician Turas and he also got the crowd jamming with his hit single ‘my first love’ which features Praye honeho. Also, Eduwojie of “yenko nkoaa” fame was on stage to rock his Keta followers obviously missed him after a long absence on the music scene.

Also thrilling the huge crowd was Edem, who was the main act of the night. He performed hit tracks like “Ghetto arise”, “Over again”, “Medekuku” and several other sing along tracks. The crowd from a distance was familiar with his songs which were in their native dialect and so could not stop singing along with him throughout the entire duration he spent on stage.
The show went deep into the night and as at dawn; folks were still jamming to hit tracks and mixes by the DJs and savoring every moment of it.
The Adom Fm Hogbetsotso festivities continued on Saturday with a grand durbar of chiefs and people of Anlo to climax the Festival which marked the journey of the Anlo’s from their former home in Togo, to their present settlement in Ghana.
This year’s Hogbetsotso Festival was proudly sponsored by Vits Instant Noodles, Triple plus condoms, Kasapreko Co. Ltd, Sound Masters, the Anlo
