ABRANTIE TO ASSISTE FIVE SCHOOLS

One of the country’s renowned highlife musicians, Daniel Amakye Dede well-known in showbiz as Abrantie, has reaffirmed his commitment to education with a promise to adopt the music department of Achimota School.

The highlife music maestro has also announced his intentions to support brilliant but needy children who want to study Music in the school.

He disclosed that next year he would assist five schools, two in Accra and three in the Ashanti Region with musical instruments and books to help students who want to study Music.

Abrantie Amakye Dede made these known in a chat when he paid a visit to the Achimota School in Accra and presented a set of musical instruments to the school.

Touching on his visit to the school, Abrantie shared a profound delight upon meeting and interacting with some of the students, who promised him to take their studies seriously in order to realize their aspirations.
According to him, musicians today were not doing enough to reap the full benefits of having a career in music because they have failed to articulate its language well.

Speaking in an interview with BEATWAVES after the presentation, Abrantie noted that music is a language and that all those who want become good musicians must learn to speak it in order to reach the top.

He bemoaned the attitude of some musicians and chided them for not working hard enough to churn out high quality songs that would stand the test of time but relied heavily on sound engineers to make their productions appealing to the public.

Abrantie, who had thrilled millions of people worldwide with his highlife said music was Ghana’s musical soul and that it was a shame a large number of children could not learn it in school, adding, “We must make it part of our education”.

He discounted claims that highlife music was more appealing to the older generation, saying that it was for people of all generations.

He urged the stakeholders in the music industry to come together and work as a team to promote Ghanaian music in schools.
