GHANA DJ AWARDS RUNS INTO A DITCH, POSTPONED INDEFINITELY

The Ghana DJ Awards 2012 which was scheduled for Friday October 26, at the National Theatre in Accra has been hit by a deadly blow and has been postponed again, this time indefinitely.

Patrons who went to the National Theatre to see the magicians who bring life to records behind turntables were left with nothing but disappointment when they met a ‘no show’ atmosphere.

The official twitter handle of the event, @ghanadjawards, tweeted “For reasons beyond our control we regret to announce that the 2012 Ghana DJ Awards has been called off .”

One of the nominees expected to grab an award on the night, DJ Mensah, also tweeted “Due 2technical problems-Ghana Dj awards has Postponed..spread the news people.”

The event, aimed at promoting and rewarding the best achieving Ghanaian Radio, Night Club and “recognized” mobile Disk Jockeys (DJ) put together by Merqury Republic Events, has been designed to bring more excitement to the DJ profession in Ghana.
The event has been hit with controversy from the onset with most non-Accra DJs especially the Kumasi folks opting out, citing various reasons, top among them being the lack of credibility.

Fans were seriously expecting one of Kumasi and Ghana’s finest DJs to set the venue on fire with his earlier announcement to that effect.
