AKA’s ‘The World Is Yours’ Out On December 2

The Supa Mega AKA debuted new music last night for the first time in six months. AKA premiered his single, The World Is Yours at the Idols SA finale which was viewed by millions of people and is tipped to have been the most watched programme on MultiChoice's DStv this month according to South Africa’s audience ratings (ARs) published by Channel 24. The feedback online of The World Is Yours mimics the sentiment that the world truly does belong to AKA.

AKA’s highly anticipated new single echoes the theme of AKA being in a league of his own and being a champion which is highly fitting for the year he has had. AKA consistently pushes the envelope and has achieved many first and notable milestones not only for the SA hip hop fraternity but for the South African music industry at large.

“The continent has been patiently waiting for a new AKA single for months now and we are confident that The World Is Yours is going to be another continental smash hit single for AKA. It is a great single to end the year off with as AKA has had yet another phenomenal year and in 2017 the world will see a greater AKA footprint” expresses Benza.

With his recent “Most Valuable” nomination from the South African Hip Hop Awards (SAHHA) it is no surprise that AKA is in the running for this award yet again. Having taken home this award every year since the existence of the SAHHAs, AKA being recognised again as a valuable player in the industry is testament to the year AKA has had.

2016 has seen AKA feature on the cover of GQ Magazine South Africa making him the first South African musician to be featured on the cover and one of a handful of South Africans over the past 5 years to feature on the coveted cover.

AKA was listed as one of BBC Radio 1Xtra’s “HOT FOR 2016” artists, which made him the only African based artist to feature on the coveted annual tip list. The list has been one of the first to outline artists that have gone on to greater success such as the likes of Drake, Tinie Tempah, Emeli Sande, Sam Smith and Stormzy just to mention a few.

This year has also seen AKA perform on main stages of events such the BET’s in LA, be the first South African hip hop artist to get 1 million Twitter followers and the first person in Africa to get the Exclusive Twitter camera app. AKA also received platinum sales status for his LEVELS album, making him the first non-vernacular rapping hip hop artist to achieve this. 2016 has also seen AKA take the title of Coolest Local Music Star by the Sunday Times Generation Next Awards, grow his USA footprint and launch his Supa Mega Show concept shows across the country.

The Platinum album and singles selling artist is still on the rise in Africa with a lot of notable international nods. These are just a few of the accolades highlighting the strides that AKA consistently makes year in and year out that positions him as a true champion and most valuable artist in the Southern African music landscape.
