On Saturday, 11 June 2016, the Ghana High Commission’s office hosted a Sashing Event for the 8 finalists of the inaugural Miss Ghana South Africa pageant at H.E. Kwesi Ahwoi’s private residence in Waterkloof, Pretoria, which His Excellency opened up to the finalists ensuring them that his residence is their home too.
The morning’s proceedings started with a welcoming message from His Excellency, who then went on to facilitate the rest of the programming for the Sashing Event.
The 8 finalists were given words of encouragement, advice and congratulations from His Excellency; they were also introduced to members of the Ghana High Commission’s office who were in attendance at the event namely: Deputy High Commissioner Mr Yaw Francis XYZ, Head of Consular Mr Edward XYZ, Deputy Head of Consular Mrs Fafah XYZ and Head of Chancery Mrs Elizabeth XYZ; they also received words behind the purpose of the pageant from Miss Ghana South Africa co-founders and organisers, Mavis Anim and Sheila Afari; the finalists also received words of encouragement and advice from Miss Ghana South Africa’s pageant co-ordinator and reigning Mrs Tshwane and Mrs Africa contestant, Refilwe Fosu-Amoah and previous Miss Ghana pageant contestant, XYZ, who spoke to the girls via conference call.
After the various talks, His Excellency then gave the 8 finalists an opportunity to individually share information about themselves which he proceeded to formally sash them after their individual introductions.
Breakfast was served after the formal sashing and the finalists went on to have a professional photoshoot ahead of the upcoming pageant, and also had a consultation with fashion designer, Kwame Bediako, who will be designing unique traditional evening gowns for each of the contestants to wear on the night of the pageant which is set to take place on Saturday, 27 August 2016 at the Bryanston Country Club in Johannesburg, South Africa.
