Shatta Wale Wins Discovery Of The Year At 2016 Golden Movie Awards

Ghanaian Dancehall act Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr has picked yet another award; the Golden Discovery of the year.

Shatta Wale beat competition from Afia Odo (Beautiful Ruins), Ophelia Dzidzornu (The Cursed Ones), Queenstar Anaafi (YOLO), Wiyala (No Man’s Land) and Lynn Bentil (Shampaign) to pick the award at the second edition of the annual Golden Movie Awards Africa (GMAA).

He won the award with his role in “Shattered Lives” which tells a story of love, deceit, infidelity and violence in marriages. The plot of the story is an intense drama packed which tackles some of the most disheartening issues in marriages.

The movie also featured Bisa Kdei, Majid Michel, Martha Ankomah and Bismark the Joke and directed by Okechukwu Onyeka.

“… I never knew I could act like this but I just wanna [want] thank God for making me discover my talent in the arts industry and I really wanna  [want] let everybody know that this is not the only award I’m gonna [going to] take when it comes to movies. I think I wanna [want] start acting more… I thank my fans and all the people who really like my music,” he said to a rapturous applause from the patrons.

The 2016 edition of the awards was held at the plush Kempinski Hotel in Accra on June 25, 2016.
