Charterhouse, organizers of the Ghana Music Awards may soon have a stiff competition after years of enjoying monopoly as reliable information available to www.nydjlive.com indicates that Reflects Ghana, organizers of the much talked about annual Freedom Concert are set to roll out a music awards scheme to honour and reward deserving Ghanaian musicians for their craft.
According to an inside source who leaked the information to www.nydjlive.com, plans were far advanced for the music scheme which will not only target Ghanaian musicians based in the country but also in the diaspora.
It is unknown how advanced the said plans are but CEO of Reflects Ghana, Nathaniel Johnson will not comment on the issue as he kept tight lipped when contacted.
Last year, Reflects Ghana introduced a musical concert Freedom Concert which aimed at celebrating and reliving the joy of Ghana’s Independence. The musical concert which took off in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium saw an A list of performers including Sarkodie, Samini, Guru, Stonebwoy, Kwabena Kwabena, Kofi Kinaata, Kaakie perform to over 15,000 people.
This year, Kumasi had an early share of the concert with Shatta Wale, Samini, Obrafour, Tic Tac, Praye and many others on March 5. A day after, the show was replicated at the La Pleasure Beach with the same artists.
Freedom Concert is expected to happen simultaneously in the 10 regions of Ghana in the coming years.
The big question now remains, can Reflects Ghana organize a Music Awards?
