As part of efforts at promoting tourism through culture and creative arts, the Ministry has rolled out a number of programmes, one of which is the Ghana Carnival which is scheduled for the 10th and 11th of December, 2015 at the National Theatre and Independence Square respectively.

The first took place in Accra in 2013, after a teaser had been organised by the Ministry and its agencies in 2012.

The theme for this year’s is “Promoting the Ghanaian Identity and Culture through Carnival” and it is aimed at promoting the Ghanaian culture and identity for national development whilst giving the citizenry the opportunity to experience the benefits of carnivals.

It is also an avenue to create an enabling environment for domestic tourism to thrive by bringing people together to enjoy the rich Ghanaian culture and tourism, unearthing of the creative potential of Ghanaians as well as synergising regional values for social cohesion, wealth creation and business development and promotion.

According to the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Ghana Carnival will be used to portray Ghana’s culture thus the representation of cultural groups from all the ten regions to perform and showcase their regional values and identity.
