Digital Lifestyle telecom operator, Tigo Ghana, in partnership with Reach for Change have announced that 10 talented social entrepreneurs have been shortlisted for its ‘Digital Change-Makers’ competition this year.
The competition which closed deadline for applications on November 6th, 2015 received hundreds of entries with varied technological innovations across a wide range of fields in education, agriculture and health.
The ten shortlisted digital entrepreneurs each provided innovative digital solutions aimed at improving the lives of children in rural Ghana, qualifying them for the semi-final stage of the competition.
The CSR manager, Deborah Akakpo noted: “We have very compelling entries which truly resonate with our digital lifestyle agenda. The review and selection process was very extensive.”
The competition which was launched on October 6, 2015 boasts of renowned Ghanaian social entrepreneurs like Regina Agyare of Tech Needs Girls and Hayford Siaw of the Digital Mobile Library van; both projects are serving deprived communities in Ghana.
Tigo Digital Change-Makers is aimed at developing and encouraging social entrepreneurs to use technology to solve some of Ghana’s most pressing needs.
The ultimate prize package for the winners include a cash prize of GHS 70,000 each plus mentorship to bring their digital innovations to life.
