Viasat1 Embarks On 90-day Weight Loss Challenge

Viasat1 in partnership with Elite Sports is on a mission to inspire its cherished viewers to take up a health awareness challenge with the aim to shed off some weight and control their health and wellbeing as the Christmas season approaches.

Beginning Tuesday, 3rd November 2015, six contestants will compete in the Viasat1 90-Day Weight-Loss Challenge and they will be rewarded according to their performance at the end of the competition on February 2, 2016.

The programme is in conjunction with three fitness centres: Bling Body Gym, Pippa’s Health Centre, and Pulse Fitness Centre, each of which will train two of the six contestants (a male and a female) over the period.

The ultimate winner will take home a treadmill, while the second and third take home a strength training machine and vouchers to visit the Elite Sports shop, respectively.

Each participant’s profile, including their weight, body fat percentage, measurements/ clothing size, will be shared on Viasat1 social media pages before the competition starts on Tuesday. Viasat1’s resident doctor of ‘This Morning’, Dr. Senyo Misraome, will also record the contestants’ vital health blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels as well as their medical history. This will be repeated on a monthly basis and will help determine the winner of the challenge.

Updates will also be given via the various Viasat1 social media pages to keep viewers abreast with the progress or otherwise of the six contestants. However, viewers can also participate from home by following the same regimen. The first, second and third home participants will win a three-month free membership to any of the gyms plus shopping voucher from Elite Sports, two-month free membership, and one-month free membership, respectively.

Last year, Viasat1 organised a successful health walk at Spintex, Accra, which attracted hundreds of viewers and fans across the capital.
