Berita To Perform In Amsterdam, Today And Tmorrow As part Of Mandela Day Celebrations

Gold selling, award winning artist, Berita, is set to perform in Amsterdam, Netherlands today and tomorrow as part of Mandela Day celebrations

The Eastern Cape government in presenting Eastern Cape culture in the KWAKU Cultural Festival in the city of Amsterdam, Netherlands today, 17th July 2015 and tomorrow, 18th July 2015. The city of Amsterdam is set to honour Nelson Mandela at this year’s festival with the theme being "Honour the Life and Legacy of Mr Nelson Mandela".

The Eastern Cape plays an important role as the birth province of the late Mr Nelson Mandela, and will therefore take center stage at this year’s festival.

Berita has been selected to perform by the Eastern Cape government for her contribution to music in the Eastern Cape and the incorporation of isiXhosa in her music.
"As an African artist it is huge honour to be representing my continent in the Netherlands. I'm privileged to follow in the footsteps of the great likes of Mariam Makeba and Hugh Maskela, who had been flying the South African flag in the day of apartheid.

This year, the challenges are different, the message is different, the youth have a different story and I am honoured to be the one to tell the African story abroad” shares Berita.

Berita’s Netherland’s trip comes at the back of winning Best Song Writer and this year’s Wawela Music Awards which took place at the end of last month. Berita also recently received a nomination at the first inaugural South African Afro Music Awards 2015 which took place yesterday.
