Ghana is a country blessed with many talented and creative people and its entertainment industry is developing day by day, but comparing our rate of development to that of some the developing countries, the pace of our development is sluggish or in some parts stagnant.
Music lovers, Actors, Producers, musician and other industry players are doing their part to sustain and move the entertainment industry forward, but it looks like we need professionals and more finance to more the industry forward
Mr Richard Yaw Amankwaa, Popularly known in the industry as Ray Moni in an interview about the Ghanaian entertainment industry spoke passionately about the help the industry needs and called for support from government, chief and companies invest in the industry
This is what he had to say;
“As a country we are blessed with so many languages, culture and talents, from dancing, drumming, rapping down to singing, but all these talents are slowly dying out because the talented once who are interested don’t get enough support to encourage them to do more and develop their talentsOthers who don’t really see the financial benefits of it and fear turning out as a failure or poor in the future quit.
Meanwhile, we see other countries are making millions of dollars from their creative industry, because they have invested into it and has made theirs rich and attractive to the point of us coping.
Now in Ghana, from identifying once talent through to working hard to become a star,one has to do everything his or herself without any help from government, musical organizations or the society.
Event grounds, ultramodern auditoriums and other infrastructure are limited this makes it really hard for event organizers to show interest, leaving it to just a few organizer to organize shows.
A couple of money and donations have to release to some organizations in the entertainment industry, but still more needs to be done.
The money should not be given but should use to good use for the benefits of entire industry not just a few
The Government, District chief executives, Co operates bodies, Chiefs and other community leaders, from the grass roots should develop and promote interest in our indigenous dance like, Aduwa, kpelogo and other traditional dance not to call them out and use them only during festivals.
We expect similar performance and shows like the MTV and BET but if we don’t invest, there is no way we can meet does height
He also added
“Not everyone can be a lawyer, doctor, teachers or pilots some were born and gifted to be entertainers to put a smile on our face when we sad and to make us happy.
So the government should support these once because this is what they will use to feed their family and help the nation with”
