DR. JOYCE ARYEE TO RECEIVE GUBA HONOUR

Former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Dr. Joyce Rosalind Aryee, will be honoured with the GUBA Black Star Inspirational Woman Award at the 5th GUBA Awards on July 4th, 2015.

The award recognises her achievements in creating and paving the way for women in a patriarchal Ghanaian society; in particular, leading the Ghana Chamber of Mines and being the first woman to head the African Chamber of Mines.

The GUBA Black Star Awards are a staple part of the GUBA awards, created to recognise established and consistent achievers within the Ghanaian community. The awards ceremony will take place at the Hilton Metropole Hotel, Edgware Road, London.

Dr Aryee is a distinguished leader, speaker, and mentor. She is the founder and Executive Director of Salt & Light Ministries, a Christian para-church organisation in Ghana. She is a distinguished stateswoman who has dedicated over thirty-eight years to the service of Ghana, serving as Secretary of Information and Education in the PNDC government, and as a non- cabinet minister at the National Commission for Democracy, from 1983 to 1991.
Dr Aryee is a senior mentor for the African Leaders Initiative and also mentors Initiative for Women in Leadership for African Development (MILEAD), both organisations founded to develop the next generation of African leaders. She is also a board member of several institutions including Central University College, Stanbic Bank Ghana and Newmont Gold Ghana.

Honoured with the State Award of the Order of the Volta in 2006 in recognition of her service to Ghana, she was also the recipient of the CIMG Marketing Woman of the Year for 2007. The African Leadership on Centre of Economic and Leadership Development Award and the African Female Business Leader of the Year Award in 2009 is to name a few.

Dr Joyce Aryee is an accomplished woman with numerous accolades including - an honorary Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineers. The constant dedication to development and diplomacy is one of the core reasons behind her GUBA Inspirational Woman Award. It is a testament of her impact on Ghana and Africa as a whole.

Other distinguished figures to be honoured on the night include ace broadcaster Bola Ray, Renowned banker Dr. Kwabena Duffuor and late BBC anchor Komla Dumor.

The Black star will be accompanied by three voting categories; Artist Extraordinaire Award, Young & Talented Award and GUBA Humanitarian Award. Voting for these categories can be done via http://osikiapp.com/guba/with winners being unveiled on the night.

GUBA 2015 promises to be an entertaining and inspirational night, filled with live music, great food and a glamorous ambience.
