Ghanaian Reggae and dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy has won his first award for Best International Act, Africa at the pre-taped ceremony, ahead of the main Awards in Los Angeles.
Livingstone Etse Satekla aka Stonebwoy beat competition from Ghana’s Sarkodie who has been twice-nominated, and won one in the process, as well as South African cool kid A.K.A, and Nigerian beauty Yemi Alade. Other contenders included The Soil (South Africa), Fally Ipupa (DR Congo), Wizkid (Nigeria), and Sauti Sol (Kenya).

This is Ghana’s second in three years after Sarkodie shared his 2012 award with Nigeria’s Wizkid.
The 2015 BET Awards will be hosted by the stars of the hit ABC comedy “Blackish,” Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross.
Acting nominees include greats like Viola Davis, Taraji P. Henson, Kerry Washington, Idris Elba, Terrence Howard and Kevin Hart.
The Awards will showcase artists like Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Chris Brown, Ciara and Jason Derulo. The cast of “Empire” is slated to make a special musical performance. A segment of the program will be dedicated to legend of the field including Janet Jackson, Smokey Robinson and Tom Joyner.
The Awards begins Sunday at 8:0 p.m. EDT on BET.
