A Piece of Peace: "Knowing Who You Are"

Hello and welcome to a piece of peace, your weekly dose of motivation and inspiration. Today I would like to share on the topic of “knowing who you are”.

It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are. Questions like who are you? What do you believe in? What is your purpose? What fills you with joy and wonder? Are sometimes very difficult to answer. The truth is, unless you know who are, you will always be vulnerable to what people say.

Everyone struggles with the need to impress people at some level. And much of the pressure, fear and stress we experience in our lives is caused by our need to impress others mainly because we have no real grasp of who we are. As people, we are so loyal to systems that are not working. We are trapped in a system, a routine a schedule to which we are more loyal than progress.

Nothing happens by magic it happens by process. And if you don’t go through the process to get it, then you don’t have the power to keep it. Firstly you need to know who you really are before you can decide what it is you really want. The more you know who you are, and what you want, the less you let things upset you.

The truth is, the barriers that are restricting you and trapping you in the system and preventing you from knowing who you are, are within you.  Most people summarize who they are by what they do. You are more than what you do. Your title should not confine you and your job does not define you. Don’t get confused into what people say you are.
The world tries its possible best to put a label on things that it doesn’t understand. For instance, it is easy to assume you fit the stereotype of things that have come before you than to understand that you are unique and not like any other person that has come before you.  The first true sign of self-fulfilment is understanding that you are not meant to be what everyone thinks of you. There will always be pressures to conform.

You may seem out of place in the system that everyone else has become accustomed to. But no matter how out of place you may seem, remember that you are made that way for a reason.

What you get by reaching your destination is not nearly as important as what you become by reaching your goals. What you will become is the winner you were born to be.
The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be. Obstacles are put in our way just to see if what we want is worth fighting for. Choose to fight for the  person who God has destined for you to become.

So the question remains, how do you become the person you are were meant to be: where do you start. You have to make mistakes to find out who you aren’t. You must not be afraid to fail. You have to take the action and then let the insight follow.

You cannot think your way into becoming you are are meant to be. You have to go through a process of life experiences that are ushered in by a courage and an openness to achieve what your passion is. Who are you when no one is watching? When you’re not trying to live up to someone’s expectations or prove something to someone what do you do? God has given as all the ability to be more than our current circumstances.

It is only a relentless fighting spirit that pushes us towards that expected end that he has in mind for us. Don’t accept what people say you are. Fight to be who
God has destined for you to become.

And always be yourself because everyone else is taken.

Much love,

Peace Hyde.
