The months of April and May have over the past sixteen years been months of music in Ghana as the nation’s biggest music event, the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards holds.
The road to the event is a rather long and exciting one filled with reviews of submitted works, meetings to categorize and shortlisting of songs submitted based on the calendar year starting 1st January 2014 and ending 31st December. Hundreds of artistes have so far submitted their works and over the weekend the 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards board met for the first time to start work.
The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Board is a group of carefully selected persons who have an in depth knowledge and experience in the Ghana music industry and beyond. Their main mandate as stipulated by the organizers is to review and categorize submitted works for voting by the Board, Academy and the General Public.
Last year, power was given to the general public to vote for their preferred artiste from the newly created “unsung” category to have a chance to perform on the night of the awards and already, many ‘underground’ artistes are already eagerly looking forward to the unsung category.
