Meet TEDXAccra Speaker, Lauren Grimanis

Lauren Grimanis is a social innovator and collaborative leader, based in both the US and Ghana. She found her passion for working in the social space after a trip to Ghana at age 17.

Since, she founded the NGO, the Akaa Project, and is dedicated to creating opportunity for rural children and youth, particularly through quality education.

Lauren deeply believes in the power of young people to impact and inspire their communities – and that anyone can act to make a difference in the world. Enjoys making new connections, being active and trotro rides. Could eat banku and pepper for every meal.

Why you should listen to my talk:

I believe the future, the “next chapter” is in all of our hands – it’s collectively in the decisions we make as individuals and as communities. And we all need to take action in our future.

I want to share with you my beliefs and what I’ve learned from bringing people together and working in Ghanaian villages – and how together we can push forward for a better world.

TEDxAccra 2015 will take place on April 11 at the National Theatre from 7:00am to 7:00pm. It is expected to be the biggest TEDx event in Ghana to date. The theme for this year is “The Next Chapter”.
