B5 Plus Limited Donates GHȻ 10,000 For Construction Of Police Station In Tema

B5 Plus Limited, the biggest importer and manufacturer of steel in Ghana, has responded to calls from residents of Tema Community 25 to support the construction of a police station to curb crime in the area.

As part of its commitment to numerous social projects in the area under the banner of “B5 Plus Care” the company presented a cheque of GHȻ 10,000 for the completion of the building which had already started through the benevolence of individuals in the community.

B5 Plus is a leading importer and manufacturer of steel products and received the prestigious TNG Steel Fabrication Company Award organised by the New Ghanaian (TNG) Pillars of Modern Ghana last year.

The company has  also received  other international awards including the International Europe Award for Quality and Excellent Service by Globe Trade Leaders' Club, and  Best Enterprise Award in the field of Steel Industry by the Socrates Committee, Oxford UK.
Mr. Mukesh Thakwani, CEO of B5 Plus noted in an interview that security is paramount to development and invited other corporate bodies in the area to collaborate with residents to tackle the menace.

“We received a request from the community that they need funds to complete a police station so we moved to contribute. We believe that policing is not the responsibility of the police alone but of everyone,” he said.

The Residents Association Chairman of Community 25, Mr. Bagnaba Van-Gogh who received the cheque on behalf of the community expressed delight about the kind gesture and disclosed that the project will be completed by April and handed over to the police.

He said that, “B5 Plus Limited has played a significant role in pushing this project with logistics and funds although it was initiated by residents through contributions and we are very grateful as this will help improve security in the area”.

He further advised authorities to make security a priority and set aside a fund that can be used for such security related projects in order to attract investors.

On his part, the District Commander of Kpone, Supt. Kwadwo Asante appealed to corporate bodies and individuals to aid the police to deliver efficiently.

He advised the public to be familiar with the police emergency numbers for a swift response to crime scenes as the police service has intensified patrols.

The Commander also appealed to the public to volunteer vital information that will aid arrest and prosecution of criminals.

He thanked the community’s initiative to build a police station and encouraged more communities to emulate such efforts in order to control crime.
