On Monday the 15th of December, Ghanaian Television Host and Actress, Joselyn Dumas and the Xcholera team stormed the La Market with the final Xcholera Campaign for 2014.
The campaign which begun in August 2014, with the aim of educating the public on health practices to prevent the contraction of Cholera successfully toured the Okaishie, Kaneshie, Nima and Kotobabi Markets with resource persons and health specialists to advice and educate the public on Cholera prevention.
The Campaign at the La Market was the Climax as it was patronized by thousands of people who thronged to the La Market to have a glimpse of the kind television hostess and hear her message on cholera.
Miss Dumas and her team once spoke to the market folk on the causes of Cholera as well as ways to prevent and curb it when one is struck by it. She likewise advised the audience on the significance in seeking medical care at any clinic or hospital upon suspicion of a cholera infection.
With support from concerned volunteers, the team approached traders in their stalls and interacted with them, teaching them various hygienic practices to inhibit the outbreak of cholera. Delegates from Lifebuoy and La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) were present to educate the public on proper hand washing techniques as well as ways of keeping the environment clean to prevent cholera. Nurse Patricia Awume from the LA Community Hospital spoke with the market audience, educating them on first aid tips to administer when one contracts the Cholera disease. She patiently demonstrated the preparation of ORS, advising the public to take not and to dilute appropriately to ensure effectiveness of the drug when administered.
The event was graced by Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata (of the Nshorena Project), Musician and television hostess Deborah Vanessa and Sherrie Thompson (Activist against open defecation) who also took turns on the podium to advise on Cholera.

The campaign ended with the market folks walking away with Xcholera T-shirts from Ifactory live, ORS from Ernest chemist and anti-bacterial soap from Life Buoy.
