(@ghanadjawards) Ghana DJ Awards Campus Tour Makes History At Methodist University

Leave it up to Merqury Republic to completely rock Methodist University! At the 2nd event of the Ghana DJ Awards Campus Tour dubbed the Jump Off held at the forecourt of Methodist University in Dansoman on October 31st, the entire school was brought to a total frenzy with the first ever female DJ battle in Ghana, amazing DJ jam sessions by campus DJs, with live sets by top Ghanaian DJs.

With a heavy lineup featuring DJ Gospol of radio Gold 90.5fm, Professor Collins of Rainbow Radio 87.5fm, Scratch DJ Of The Year 2013, DJ Hubert, DJ Page of Dancestardom and Jay Spinash, the forecourt of the school went agog when lady DJs Nyce and MJ were introduced on stage to battle as promoted ahead of the show.

After the first round of the first ever Female DJ Battle in Ghana between DJ Nyce and DJ MJ, MC Merqury Quaye invited two-time Female DJ of the Year at the Ghana DJ Awards, DJ Kess on stage amidst cheers from the upbeat audience. On stage, celebrity DJ Kess encouraged the ladies and commended organizers, Merqury Republic for adding value to Disc Jockeying in Africa through events and recognition.

The ecstatic crowd couldn’t help but ask for another round of the battle which eventually ended a tie between Diijay Nyce and DJ MJ. Merqury Republic hasn’t disclosed when the two female DJs will face off again.

Through the Ghana DJ Awards Campus tour which made it’s first stop at the Jean Nelson Hall at the University Of Ghana, Merqury Republic is extending the Ghana DJ Awards RHYTHYM NATION experience, the #1 music jam series in Ghana, to campus audiences by offering students unique shows featuring campus DJs, with live support DJ sets by iconic DJs, ahead of the main show.

"Ghana DJ Awards is THE first and only national DJ program in Africa so it's only natural that we lead the way in the music space," said Merquy Quaye, Founder of the Ghana DJ Awards in an interview. "Our audience can't live without their DJs and it makes sense for us to be where they are with our compelling content and ubiquitous brand. We will continue to entertain and engage our audience beyond the main awards show, he added."
