My World Cup Ambassadorial Work Was Voluntary But I Was Paid $3,750 Says Becca

Ghanaian Singer, Becca became the first celebrity Ambassador to make an appearance at the World Cup Commission on Thursday afternoon where she answered questions largely on her role in Brazil.

She read out her certificate which detailed her role as a World Cup Ambassador for Ghana. According to the award-winning musician, she was able to sell Ghana with her talent – music. She added that she gave it her very best.

Becca also explained that she didn’t sign any contract with the Ministry of Sports regarding music performances in Brazil but felt that as a musician it was her way to sell Ghana to the world, especially as a World Cup Ambassador.

She said there was no performance fee but she received an amount of $ 250 as per diem for her entire stay amounting to $3,750 over 15 days.

Becca also revealed that performing in Brazil gave her lots of media attention and that she has been invited for a festival in Rio this November. One other highlight from her appearance was when the Chairman of the Commission ruled out Commissioner Kofi Anokye Darko’s question about whether Becca wanted to clear any rumours regarding her role.

Meanwhile, fellow celebrity World Cup Ambassador, Jackie Appiah who made several headlines this week about appearing before the commission is currently on holiday in Czech republic where she appears oblivious about any invitation to appear before the commission.
