Sarkodie (@sarkodie) Beats Ice Prince, Olamide, Others To Win Best Hip Hop Award At MTV Africa Music Awards

The 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards took place at the Durban ICC, in South Africa on Saturday night June 7th,2014 with Sarkodie picking up the Best Hip Hop award Artist of the Year.

The BET award-winner beat Ice Prince, Olamide from Nigeria and Aka and  Khuli Chana from South Africa to pick up the award.

Efya, Sarkodie, Fuse ODG and R2bees were the Ghanaian acts nominated for the 2014 Mtv Africa Music Awards happening now.

Efya loses the Best female act award to Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage.

Mafikizolo and Davido won two awards each including artist of the year for Davido and Song of the year for Mafikizolo.

CypressGhana congratulates Sarkodie for picking up an award on the night and wishes the other acts all the best.

Best International: Pharrell

Personality of the Year: Lupita Nyong’o (Kenya)

MTV Base Leadership Award: Ashish J. Thakkar (Tanzania)

Transform Today Award by Absolut: Clarence Peters (Nigeria)
