First Photos: Idris Elba’s Movie Shoot In Ghana

You should know by now, fine British actor and Disc Jockey of Ghanaian and Sierra Leonean heritage, Idris Elba, came to town days ago for a movie project.

Courtesy one of the local hands, King Luu, working on the project, we bring you some images from the shoot, which took place at several locations in Koforidua and Takoradi… ALSO READ THIS

is based on the Uzodinma Iweala’s Novel of the same title.

The novel follows the journey of a young boy, Agu, who is forced to join a group of soldiers in an unnamed West African country.

While Agu fears his commander and many of the men around him, his fledgling childhood has been brutally shattered by the war raging through his country, and he is at first torn between conflicting revulsion and fascination with the mechanics of war. Iweala does not shy away from explicit, visceral detail, and paints a complex, difficult picture of Agu as a child soldier.

So I had to remove previous photos I coyly captured from the set of Beasts Of No Nation, which British actor Idris Elba has been shooting in Ghana, after I received notice from producers that photos from the production were not allowed to go out in the media. However, King Luu, a Ghanaian member of the production crew recently posted these amateur photos on social media (instagram) so I decided to share.
