Ghana Black Stars full back Samuel Inkoom was the special surprise guest as hundreds of enthusiastic youth, clad in national colours and full of song, thronged the Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium at the weekend as they delighted spectators with music, dance, pomp and pageantry.
It marked the opening week of the long anticipated World Cup Jamma Festival which will run from Friday 25th April to Friday 13th June 2014 and thereafter on every World Cup night.
The event which is being spearheaded by One Ghana in partnership with the Ghana/Brazil 2014 Secretariat, Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Sports Authority and Brand Ghana.
One Ghana is made up of four off-the-pitch activities aimed at creating a positive whirlwind of support for the Ghana Black Stars and the World Cup Jamma Festival format is the first of its kind that embraces non-traditional supporters groups in addition to the established supporters unions on one platform.
According to the Project Coordinator of One Ghana Miss Nana Yaa Boateng, the rationale behind this is simple ”We know that there are hundreds if not thousands of schools, groups, clubs and associations all over Ghana who are just as passionate about the Black Stars but never get the opportunity to show their love for the team. So this is their opportunity and it is not all about winning a contest”.It marked the opening week of the long anticipated World Cup Jamma Festival which will run from Friday 25th April to Friday 13th June 2014 and thereafter on every World Cup night.
