Screening the lyrics: Are we awarding sensible artistes or just rhythm makers

Nanayaw18.com has been listening to a few rappers in the game now and asking ourselves; ‘do our rappers make sense or they just rhythm with words or we asking is our music awards scheme awarding sensible rappers or just rhythm makers?

We heard one rapper (whose name we will not disclose but from examples readers can make their own conclusions) saying that the whole Ghana knows he is the best artiste who can rhythm.

Yes, we remember that your first hit song was a mixtape  of a popular hit song by Bradez but after listening to that song we pardoned you because it was your first single and even though you rhythm a lot you never made sense. We were hoping that his new singles would be more different in terms of maturity and rhythm but we realize that he just rhythms without making sense.

That drew our attention to follow a few known Ghanaian rappers to see if they also just rhythm without making sense.
Amazingly most of the rappers whose lyrics were screened were found guilty and funny enough they are all from the same hood.

What happens is that these rappers just make sure their lyrics just rhythm. They do not take into consideration the content and message of the music to which they are sending out.

For these rappers anything that will or can complement the words used in the song so far as it will sound good in the ears of fans and Ghanaians works for them but seriously they don’t send any message or make sense.

For the records we are not saying that every rapper in Ghana rhythms without making sense; as a matter of fact we screened some lyrics from some musicians and we noticed that even though they rhythm, they have a message and also stays within content.

There are some good rappers out there who if you listen to them attentively you will fall in love with their message faster than the beats or melody.

Our question, how many of these good rappers who don’t just rhythm but make sense do we have in our industry compared to the number of the rappers who just rhythm without making sense.

Who outwits the other; we believe that the rappers who just rhythm without making sense outwit the rappers who rhythm and make sense.

Seriously speaking these fake rappers as we call them are loud, very loud in the industry than the sensible rappers.

We think it is about time consumers of music come hard and clean on musicians especially rappers who just join any words to rhythm without making sense to get serious with their products or else they should stop consuming it.

Music is the food to the soul and light unto our path if they don’t know. If they think they can play with our emotions anyhow, only time will tell as we separate good rappers from fake ones.

But who are we to blame, when those fake rappers have seen that the highest form of awards in the country for musicians rewards any song, to them it is a morale booster.
