On Sunday 9th of March, the Hollywood Blvd lounge at the AandC shopping mall was turned into frenzy as Davido decided to take a relaxing time out. On spotting the “Gobe” hitmaker, the Dj decided to pay homage by sending out shout outs and playing hits from the Nigerian wonder Kid.
In the spirit of having fun, Davido decided to partake in the ongoing Kareoke session. After a while of performing the Kareoke Version of his latest track, Davido urged the DJ to play a Shatta Wale tune as he explained his hunger to work with the self proclaimed “Dancehall King “. Davido who didn’t know all the lyrics of Shatta Wale’s hit track “Everybody Like My Thing” grooved along to the rhythm and the beat.
Along with a convoy of 3 motorcycles and 3 cars, Samini and his high grade family crew came into the East Legon based lounge. Davido continued to entreat the DJ who was playing some of Samini’s hits to play more Shatta Wale tracks as he was ignorant of the war between Shatta Wale and Samini. This led to a high level of tension as Samini was beginning to lose his cool as he fidgeted and looked into space.
Unable to take Davido’s public display of affection for his sworn rival, Samini and his crew decide to leave, this caused uproar amongst fans of both artistes who had observed the incidents unfold; most Shatta movement faithfuls began praising Davido as some even chose to refer to him as Shatta. The visibly confused Davido and his crew followed Samini outside as fans followed closely cheering the superstar. In the spirit of having fun, Davido decided to partake in the ongoing Kareoke session. The night returned to its normal state as both superstars left. It however re-opened the arguments and discussions on which dancehall artiste is the man of the moment and who deserves to be crowned the dancehall king as Davido hits the studios to cook so music with the man we called Bandana.
