All great things start with small beginnings’, that is the belief of award-winning DJ, DJ Champagne. After the nominees list for the second edition of Ghana DJ Awards was released, a section of entertainment followers used many medium – social media networks, radio and television networks, print and online media to chastise the awards questioning its credibility.
With this and other criticisms leveled against the event aimed at awarding hardworking DJs in Ghana, Zionfelix.com contacted YFM’s DJ Champagne to listen to his view about the event slated for February 22nd at the National Theater. The RTP award-winning DJ said “Ghanaians should help support Ghana DJ awards because it’s the first of its kind in the country. Such a thing has never happened in Ghana before. Most of the awards in Ghana are given to our musicians leaving those who promote the songs out.”
“The first edition had little problems but hey, everybody makes mistakes in life day in day out, learn and improve on it. I hope the organizers have learnt from their mistakes they made last year” he continued.
Talking about his nomination at this year’ Ghana DJ Awards, he stated that he appreciates the category he was nominated for but thinks he deserved more than one nomination because “I really worked hard in the year 2013. I was on many international platforms and on many shows in Ghana as well.” He added that ‘ I was the DJ for BASS Awards nominees jam, DJ for Kaakitup Tour 2013, I was in South Africa for a show dubbed ‘West Night’ and whilst in South Africa, I was invited to Planet Radio with Jay So for a Video Mix live show.”With this and other criticisms leveled against the event aimed at awarding hardworking DJs in Ghana, Zionfelix.com contacted YFM’s DJ Champagne to listen to his view about the event slated for February 22nd at the National Theater.
