Legendary beat producer and CEO of The Last 2 Music Group Nana Poku known widely as Hammer has advised Ghanaian musicians to be rather cautious and not in a hurry to get their accounts verified on social networking platform Twitter.
“Who could’ve ever predicted that 140 characters could screw up so many people’s lives? But that’s exactly what has happened to politicians, executives, government staff and others because of their comments on Twitter. This social media platform has morphed from a fun place to an information hub to a career killer.”
At the back of recent events where information gathered indicates many Ghanaian musicians are in a rush to pay for their accounts to be verified, Hammer believes it is great to be verified as that makes any communication from their handles authentic and genuine. He however cautioned them not to lose sight of the fact that verification made them vulnerable to prosecutions for lose tweets and has advised them to be responsible with their handles as they could be dragged to court for any lose words sent through that channel.

"ppl in a hurry to get verified on twitter need to know that, apart from the advantage that deters fraudsters from using your identity,… Which happens to be the main reason why you are verified anyway, there’s also a disadvantage which allows utterances or statements made on a verified twitter account also admissible in court. Cos it’s a genuine representation of u online… Yep, so if you are getting yourself verified, boys for look sharp and change state of mind… Don’t get carried away, emotional all that. Cos loose talk can come back to haunt u. Goodnight"
Recently, 64 characters tweeted by Sacco resulted in her now being known as “ex-PR executive.” Sacco was fired by IAC, the media company headed by Barry Diller, within hours of landing in South Africa.
Among Ghanaian musicians verified are Sarkodie, EL, Eazzy, D Black, Joey B etc.
