Bavaria’s Big in Ghana shakes Nkrumah Circle in style

The area outside Obra’s Spot was completely packed full of excited fans waiting to cheer their favourite acts on to the final of Bavaria Big in Ghana. MC Nana Yaw and DJ Just Ice kept the crowd anticipation high before the main event with great music, giveaways and gist.

Hosted once again by Pope Skinny, the semi-final of this year’s Bavaria Big in Ghana boasted nine talented and determined underground artists hoping to make it through to the final.

Bavaria Big in Ghana Brand Ambassadors FOKN Bois and Yaa Pono were joined by guests, the Sankwas Bois (Mutombo da Poet and Simpol Tinz), artist Fanta Celah and AMAA (Africa Movie Academy Award) winning film director Akosua Adoma Owusu. Afro Harmony were on board to remind us why they are considered the best live band in Ghana, showcasing their broad musical repertoire. The event included performances from the winner of last year’s competition, Bryte the Micnificent and Yaa Pono.

After particularly dramatic and engaging performances from all contestants, the tension was at an all time high during voting. Such was the calibre of this year’s semi-finalists that host Pope Skinny, assisted by M3NSA, had a tough time distinguishing between the levels of the crowd’s “noise-o-meter.”
In fact the fourth finalist was only decided after an impromptu freestyle battle using Kasapreko and Alomo Bitters as topics. Unfortunately, Bukum Dancehall, Nsruma Naim, King Lucas Lu, Razignal and Efo Chameleon fell at the last hurdle. The acts which now successfully progress to the final are: dancehall queen Naa Bee, and rappers 7Thirty, Tom Tom and Bullet who won ‘Performer of the Night’ for the second week running.

Despite the high energy there was also an air of sombreness due to the recent passing of Buk Bak’s, Ronnie Coaches. Host Pope Skinny led a one minute silence to his memory whilst the night was tempered with fitting musical tributes from FOKN Bois, Yaa Pono and Afro Harmony.

The final will be held at Freedom and Justice Park (Obra’s Spot) on Friday 29th November at 6.30pm featuring live performances from FOKN Bois, Yaa Pono, Bryte Micnificent, Afro Harmony and Efya.

Voting now takes place live, onsite with prize giveaways such as a Samsung Galaxy S3 Pocket, a Panasonic Flatscreen TV, a Samsung Galaxy tablet, Samsung Headphones and a wristwatch for the most enthusiastic texters and lucky Bavaria drinkers.

Bavaria Big in Ghana is supported by Kasapreko, the sole distributor of Bavaria.
