Bass Awards Influences More Radio Shows: Kudos To BullHaus, Rackus and Solid Multi Media

If there is one thing the organizers of Bass awards are achieving currently with regards to Bass awards which happened this year July, then it will obviously be their ability to have influenced more reggae and dancehall programmes on radio.

Many were the award followers who projected that for the maiden edition to gain roots in our entertainment industry, there should be the need to give more exposure to artistes and personalities who were championing that genre of music in Ghana. True to their projections, now many dancehall and reggae artistes are gaining more exposure day in and day out with their songs even growing beyond some mainstream genres in the country.

As at the time the organizers Rackus Entertainment, BullHaus Entertainment and Solid Multimedia were rolling out nominations and other processes for the awards day, not many dancehall and reggae musicians were known at that period but with time, things seem to be working for them in that direction. More exposure for them and that means a big advantage for next year`s Bass awards when the competition will be tighter and stronger like never before.

Again, Bass awards is really promoting dancehall platforms in the country as radio  programmes managers are now seeing the strength of reggae and dancehall programmes in the country and are therefore giving out quality air time to make this genre of music bigger than it can be. In the face of the growing exposure to dancehall music on radio and on other platforms, the rivalry among the players in that same field is also increasing by the day with many of them releasing diss songs against each other.
Some new programmes which have been introduced on radio platforms and promoting  dancehall and reggae genres are Dancehall Chronicles on Agoo 103.5 fm and Reggae Road Block on Pluzz 89.9fm. On Dancehall Chronicles which airs on Agoo fm every weekend from Friday through to Sunday in the evenings, the host Mr Logic aka Sterling promotes reggae and dancehall music produced in Ghana to music lovers.

He also interacts with many Jamaican artistes through the phone and tells their followers in Ghana what they are doing far away Jamaica. There are some occasions he invites some Ghanaian dancehall artistes to the studio for real interview sessions.

Reggae Road Block is on Pluzz 89.9 and is ably hosted by musician Fiifi Sellah aka Selenzy Fyah. On his programme, he plays only new and fresh reggae and dancehall songs from Ghanaian musicians and profiles them for their followers.  There are occasions he has promoted some diss songs from Budha Man and some other artistes.

As the organizers prepare for the next edition of Bass Awards next year,  we hope to remind BullHaus Entertainment, Solid Multi Media and Rackus Entertainment to look beyond their scope from last year to fish for more talents because now they have gotten the necessary exposure. Thanks to the maiden edition which suffered the Elephant Man`s rejection.
