GHANA'S MOST BEAUTIFUL SEASON SEVEN (7) LAUNCHED IN KUMASI

The Kumasi Centre for National Culture (CNC) last weekend experienced a variety of cultural manifestations during the launch of the seventh edition of TV3’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful reality show.

Tradition and culture were at its best as Nananom, Ministers of State, Arts and Culture professionals were clad in various types of Kente and other traditional wear to grace the occasion.

On hand to perform was the Amammereso Cultural Troupe from the CNC who thrilled the audience with dances from the 10 regions of Ghana.

The Paramount Chief of the Offinso traditional Area, Nana Wiafe Akenten II, who represented Otumfuo Osei Tutu, the Asantehene, arrived at the durbar grounds in a palanquin amid pomp and pageantry while Nana Dufie  Agyakoma, Mamponghemaa also represented the Asantehemaa.

The show which is one of the most-watched reality shows on television brought together all the 10 contestants from the 10 regions to introduce themselves to the public for the first time.

The 10 contestants were each given a rousing welcome as they took the stage to introduce themselves to the audience by doing a traditional dance with the help of the Amammereso Cultural Troupe who ushered them in.

They are Akua from the Ashanti region; Bubu, Volta; Konadu, Brong Ahafo; Kadija, North; and Dede from the Greater Accra region.

The rest are Deli from Upper West, Safowaa, Eastern; Abena Central;  Ama, Western; and Poka from the Upper East region.

Launching the programme, the Chief Executive Officer of TV3 Network, Mr Lazarus Lamptey said that the Ashanti region was chosen for this year’s launch because of its position as the beacon of tradition and the cradle of culture.

Mr Lamptey said the pageant was created with the aim of creating an avenue to cement the foundation of unity in the country. According to him, the show helps to unearth the skills and ability of contestants to foster tolerance and promote unity.

Nana Wiafe Akenten urged the contestants to use the pageant to promote unity.

The Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Yaw Adusei, said, the programme, apart from promoting unity, also showcases Ghana’s culture and heritage.
