Soul and Jazz singer Ofie Kodjoe last Sunday took all 12 contestants of the ongoing MTN Hitmaker through some ‘dos and don’ts’ on stage, backstage and life in general. “This workshop is meant to help them learn how to work on their breathing, voice control, vocal control and their overall balance in life, eating properly, exercising, loosening up, and how to work their vocals everyday so they could get stronger.
“These are things they will take with them forever if they want to continue in the industry. Their breathing is essential, exercises are also very essential because it helps you maintain strength on stage,” she said.
Rama, a contestant, said the workshop has really taught her a lot. “I now know to train my voice, what to eat, and create an image for myself. I know that as an artiste we have to select our foods but with this workshop I have been enlightened more as to which food choice will help improve my singing.”

Volta Regional representative, Cano Z was very grateful to Ofie. “I have learnt a lot and I am very grateful to her. I didn’t even know sometimes we have to control our voice when performing. I think she has really taught us a great deal.”
MTN Hitmaker Season 2 airs on multiple local networks on Sunday evenings.
