Never before has the Vodafone Icons music talent competition unveiled contestants of mixed backgrounds and expectations as this year’s edition.
The 10 young women and men, most of whom are senior high school graduates, include a master’s degree holder and what aspirations they all have!
From left, Buda (25), an underground rapper who is the younger brother of well-known Kwaw Kesse and who has a five-year old daughter; Sarah (26), who is into media; Kelvin (23), who looks forward to becoming a huge highlife success; Mariam (18), grew up in England and waiting to enter the Legon School of Performing Arts; Ryan (21), lives with his grandmother in Kumasi; and Rosel (21),who is in love with chemistry as a science.
Continuing as the seventh contestant in the picture is Harry (23), who grew up in Liberia and has recently left pre-university; Zakia (27), who has comlpeted her Master’s degree programme in Political Science; Seed (27) who sports a lot of tatoos and has a 2-year old daughter; and Joyce (21), Ghanaian who has lived with her parents in Nigeria and about to enter university to read micro biology.
