Dancehall certainly seems to be taking over the local music scene, perhaps propagated by the institution of the genre’s own awards scheme, The Bass Awards.
In recent times more acts seem to be sojourning into the world of heady and up-tempo rhythms and are doing quite well at it.
The latest act to enter the dancehall scene is, MzVee, lead singer of girl group D3.
The beautiful songbird lends her soulful voice to the “summertime” and comes out with a cover titled, “Harmattan.”
An impressive take on the riddim, MzVee, brings it home in style, switching in between doses of patwa and pidgin while managing to bring her impressive vocal abilities to the fore.
“Harmattan” is already gaining grounds in music circles, following an impressive performance by MzVee and her D3 band members at the recently held “Bass Awards” where they were joined on stage by the ‘Dancehall King,’ Shatta Wale.
