There is no better way to both define and exhibit versatility than what the only dactor in rap music – Okyeame Kwame is getting ready to stage come 14th of December 2012 inside the National theater dubbed: ‘the versatile show’.
Okyeame Kwame will on that day, prove that he did not just name the album the versatile show for titles sake but indeed he is a versatile artiste for the future whose prospects are yet to be tabbed into by both newer and older generations.
NanaYaw18.com caught up with the rap doctor and the one mic label team inside Oak Plaza Hotel to find out if what is termed to be the biggest musical explosion yet to hit the shores of this country is really true and what is it all about.
Okyeame Kwame in explaining the concept to NanaYaw18.com said, ‘the versatile show is a combination of three elements, music, theater and dance.’
He further on added, we are bringing to the national theater a combination of the three element of entertainment, fans will get to witness for the first time, a good interpretation of all my songs on my new album – Versatile show through theater, drama and music.
In breaking it down, Okyeam Kwame said, everyone needs to be there to experience it, let’s take SIKA for example, I will not only perform SIKA with a live band, there will be a mixture of drama and dance on stage hence you will for the first time enjoy a concert which meets all demographics.
He maintained: ‘we will get all the artiste featured on the album, I mean from Efya, Bertha (Yaa Yaa), Kesse, Raquel, Tinny, just to mention a few to do a bit of drama, dance and performance, and that is different.
The interesting part is, because Okyeame Kwame together with his team want the best of everything, the artiste will be performing to the sounds from good old Zapp Mallet, the best live band crew in town, Drama (theater) by Ghana’s best theater group - Rover Man Productions (led by Uncle Ebo White) plus all choreography from the school of performing arts and note this the entire show which is 2 hours is scripted.
This is indeed a musical explosion, a scripted music concert in Ghana, wow, big up to the one mic team for such an innovative and versatile show indeed your artiste is versatile.
In trying to end the interview with Okyeame Kwame, NanaYaw18.com asked the artiste, these questions:
NY18.com: ‘don’t you think the country’s political era might affect the show and what are the plans for promotion’.
OK: ‘Yes we had that in our minds but this is it, there will be the versatile show diaries on Multi TV, ETV and 4syte TV every weekend till the 14th of December hence fans will get the chance to see all behind the scenes preparations and more with that we hope to build up their expectation.
Also to the elections, our general election is on 7th December of which we know, God will give us a peaceful election meaning that the following week will be all party because Ghanaians need to celebrate the peace achieved. Secondly in case of a runoff, the elections will be held on the 26th of December hence we still get to do the One mic Jam because tensions and nerves have to cool down for the run off.
We at NanaYaw18.com is so excited with just the idea thrown to us but we asked Okyeame Kwame of time, whether he has enough time to put this great concert together.
OK: ‘yes from now to the show is almost like 78 days, so that is enough to prepare a jam to our fans, besides we have already started rehearsals and note that the various parties on board are professionals hence fans are guaranteed of a thrilling one time life experience come 14th December.
The rap Dactor and his One Mic team have all under control and we can’t wait to see what will happen when live band meets theater and choreography on one stage. One thing we know for sure is, fans will not be asked to throw their hands up because there will be so much excitement to keep their hands up all day.
Lets prepare for the biggest show of the year, maybe we thought we had experience the shows all but the VERSATILE SHOW is design to set the standard, now that’s versatility.
