MR. STICK RELEASES NEW SINGLE MR.POLITICIAN

As the country draws closer to elections this year many artistes are throwing their weight behind the no violence campaign 2012 before, during and after the elections.

One artiste whose current political song is making waves on TV and radio is Mr. Stick with the song- Mr. Politician.

According Mr. Stick Mr. Politician as a song reflects the many situations in our societies, that individuals entrusted with certain responsibilities and authority necessary for the creation of growth, development and attainment of set goals had rather pushed our developmental agenda back to hardship, sense of inertia and hopelessness, panic and strife among the citizenry.

He mentioned that an election as feature of democracy has always been employed as an instrument in many places to create conflict and power-sharing governments so as to sustain corruption or cover-up misdeeds of some individuals.
This is very pathetic to say but when will we as a people put an end to the killings of innocent citizens through electoral disputes, political shenanigans and selfish interests in order to govern or come into power as leaders. It will be a huge remiss of all and sundry not to act. The time to prevent this is now and now.’
Sounding very passionate about how politicians treat the ordinary Ghanaian, Mr. Stick noted that, his single is out to give caution to the politicians on how they should take the average Ghanaian serious. ‘These guys that we give power to hardly think about us after we have given them the mandate hence I appeal to every Ghanaian who will listen to my song on radio, watch the video on TV or read this article, should note that these politicians take us for a ride hence we should not kill ourselves for them, Mr. Stick stressed.

In light of this, we asked what benefits and lessons can we derive from the song, Mr. Politician?

‘Well there are several compelling benefits associated with Mr. Politician, which include the creation of awareness on political deceit, corruption, accountability in politics, reduction in conflicts due to electoral disputes and selfish interests. The song also calls on citizens to hold their leaders accountable for every action that they take on their behalf and to knock them off their pedestal if they renege on their promises or engage in dereliction of responsibilities. Again, the song bemoans the practice where parliamentarians project their personal and party interest over national interest and succeed in delaying the passage of important bills necessary for national development.

Besides, the song also encourages the silent majority to be vocal in their criticisms of the corrupt activities some politicians engage in. Similarly, the song underscores the need for the youth to take their destinies into their own hands by channeling their energies into fruitful ventures that will benefit themselves and the nation as a whole and also reject politicians with diabolical intentions who want to use them as a conduit to foment troubles especially during electioneering seasons.

Also the song has timeless lyrics and entertains in ways that both the old and the young can identify with. Above all the song has no political identity or party but only aims at promoting development and peace in human societies through entertainment.
